YouTube videos start on mute by default

Recommended Posts

I am having issues playing YouTube videos lately and I can't believe the **** that Google has been fooling around lately, changing the video rendering type, the look and now the default settings. In both Firefox and Chrome, every time I played a YouTube video(s), it always start on mute by default. Although I have enabled some plug-ins and block third-party cookies in all browsers, they have nothing to do with this because back then YouTube videos have played okay.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Even this too: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2754647

Try Youtube Center. It adds a lot of customizeable features to your youtube player, such as:

  • Disabling "Dash" playback (you can pause and the whole video will load).
  • Enabling auto repeat.
  • Larger video screen by default
  • You can set the default volume that each video will start playing at.

There's a lot more stuff, overall, it's a neat thing.

Thanks, but the Chrome add-on of the same title is better than the Firefox add-on.

I noticed that a few days ago too. I also somehow now have a Google+ account too.... Stupid Youtube.

Yeah, they try to merge Youtube accounts with Google+ all the time. Even if you deactivate G+, you'll get the prompt in a few weeks' time.
