PurpleGaga27 40 Posted September 4, 2015 When I first put this BH10LS30 (that's the LG model) optical drive into my Lenovo rig, both Windows XP and Windows 7 recognized the Blu-ray writer, but when I upgraded my Windows 7 partitioned drive to Windows 10, that new OS won't recognize my LG Blu-ray writer and it's not even mentioned/detected in the Device Manager. I tried troubleshooting and tried searching the hardware and they both don't help. What should I do? The one thing I haven't tried is what I found at the Microsoft help site talking about accessing the registry and modifiy something there. Share this post Link to post

Sonic 295 Posted September 5, 2015 The one thing I haven't tried is what I found at the Microsoft help site talking about accessing the registry and modifiy something there. That's the information I've found. Sounds like some editing in the registry is required. Most of what you will see in the links below mention Windows 8 or 8.1 but the process is the same. https://support.microsoft.com/en-nz/kb/314060 http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/hardware/dvd-drive-not-recognized-in-windows-8/ad546c20-b916-4ad5-9858-52e10610ee14 Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted September 5, 2015 (edited) Well I did modify something in the registry that Microsoft had two resolutions for and both of them worked to get my Blu-ray writer get recognized/detected. No need for me to upgrade the firmware because it isn't necessary. Edited September 5, 2015 by zocom7 Share this post Link to post
