Problem with installing Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium driver in Windows 10

Recommended Posts

When I was installing the October updated version of the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium driver under the official November release of Windows 10 version 1511, I got an error with a blue screen saying with the message "system exception thread not handled" before the installation was completed. Then the PC unexpectedly restarted and the drivers were not installed correctly.

I am running a Lenovo PC with a Intel Pentium dual-core 2.4 ghz, 3 GB RAM and a GeForce GT 220 video card. The latest video card driver was installed correctly under the latest Windows 10 build, but not the sound card driver. However though, I still get to hear sounds from the speakers (without the main drivers) but they sounded frequently choppy at times.

Something tells me that Windows 10 is starting to hate old hardware and software to be run.

Completely un-install the drivers for the device, remove the device from Device Manager if need be. Reboot Windows and let it install its own driver.
