Mere_Mortal 0 Posted November 12, 2004 All I was did was place a semi-colon before an entry in Generals.ini and imported it to the CSF file, using the Editor. It didn't like it, not one little bit. Ever since then, initially I got "CSF file not in correct format". So I dis-associated the file extension by removing it from the list of types (Explorer: Tools>Folder Options). After that, I was getting "File not found at the address specified" (or something like that). I'm not talking of not being able to open the editor cos that just so happens to work fine, this is affecting the entrire user account. Everytime I try to open almost anything, I get the error, followed by the editor opening. When I say anything, that includes NAV, Run Commands (Explorer.exe cannot be found when it's already running), not to mention Generals. Even when the system is booting, the startup processes won't open, so I get about a dozen editors running. Basically, there is very little I can do with that profile. No music, no games, no security. All because of that semi-colon?? I really do not know why, how or WTF! One good thing is, it is only the one user account on the PC that has the problem. I doubt very much I have any malware, unless one would class CSF Editor as such. The computer hasn't been online since May and all scans (NAV, AVG, Spybot, AA, HJT, Stinger, Cleaner, no NIS alerts) found no problems (not that any of them have been updated since May). If anybody has had any such problems, let me know. Especially if you have a remedy. In the meantime, I might have to email the Scorpio. Cheers M_M Share this post Link to post
J-Fire_Man 0 Posted November 13, 2004 I haven't meet any kind of error like this before. My suggestion is, dont' sue CSF Editor, it can screwed up the strings and can make your scf file to be unuseable. Use TibEd strings editor to edit strings, much safer than using CSF Editor. I had many error when I used CSF Editor, but I haven't get an error like you posted here. Share this post Link to post
Mere_Mortal 0 Posted November 15, 2004 It's not so easy to do it with TibEd though. With CSF Editor, I can easily add new commands to a text file and then import it to Generals.csf, which can't be done with Tibs (so far as I am aware). Besides, I have the Data directory all laid out differently...single objects in single INIs, seperated into folders for buildings/units/Factions. It makes life easier when browsing, but Tibs don't like it, so I hardly use it. On the contrary, Generals reads them fine, it almost don't care where or how the INIs are stored. I must be honest, I haven't had any other problem, nor any since. Wierd...it's as if I triggered a virus by using that semi-colon! Like every file has been infected and believes it is a CSF file. One thing is for sure...I cannot for the life of me fix it. I've managed to completely clear the system of spyware crap in the past, but this takes the piss ~LoL~ Share this post Link to post
