GeneralZ 0 Posted March 3, 2005 what does a magnet do to a CRT or LCD screen? other than misalign the components? Share this post Link to post

Sonic 295 Posted March 3, 2005 what does a magnet do to a CRT or LCD screen? other than misalign the components? With CRT's is can cause colour patching or bleeding. Think of it like this, if you have a cheap CRT monitor and cheap set of speakers next to it you will have problems. If you buy decent speakers that are magnetically shielded you won't have problems. Same things goes for TV's, stereo speakers etc.... I have my stereo speakers relatively close to my 25" TV, I sometimes get a purple colour patch at the top of the screen, turning the TV off and on clears it up. I can't move the speakers away because the cords are to short, plus I have no where else to put them. Share this post Link to post
chickendippers 1 Posted March 3, 2005 If your moniter has the option you can degause it. At school we were given speakers (for radios we're building) and we stuck one next to one of the computer screens - it now has a nice blue splodge at the bottom Share this post Link to post
Thierry 0 Posted March 3, 2005 I had the same when putting my electronic alarm clock/radio on my TV lol Share this post Link to post
GeneralZ 0 Posted March 3, 2005 i don't know about mines. its an lcd, with a fancy sound system attacked with subwoofer, etc. no color problems on my monitor yet. and i think its magnetically shielded, it was expensive Share this post Link to post
