Connection Timeout

Hello, I am trying to play online with a friend who has this game. When we try to connect to each other, we get the connection timeout error. We opened up the ports necessary on the router and also tried without the router. We aren't loging into the online system, but we are doing a direct connect using our ip addresses. Sometimes we will see each others computer names connecting however the timeout takes place immediately. The ping times are rather decent between our computers although there are about 12 hops.

Any suggestions?

I had this prob too until i realized that I had to create the game from within the direct connect section. Right above where you connect there is a create game. Once the game was created there I still had to unplug from my router and plug dir into my cable modem then i could connect without the timeout.

Make sure all your firewalls (software and harware) are turned off.
