Lag problems in ZH

Recommended Posts

hi im new to these forums so if im putting this in the wrong thread please dont slat me.

my problem is that when i make my own maps in worldbuilder and try to play them in zero hour skirmish mode i keep get alot of lag to the point that it virtualy stops the game this happens if i play with 7 ai players or just 1 ai player.

But if i use maps that i have downloaded from the internet and pley with 7 ai hard players the game seems to run smoothly. and i cant seem to workout what im doing wrong.

I know my system is upto playing the game but heres the specs anyway

amd athlon xp 2500

1gig ram (1x512mb 2x256mb)

ati radeon 9550 graphics card

onboard sound

I dont belive offline games lag for a start i think the term is just Slow down. Do you stick alota buildings trees and other objects in? also is there enough room for the ai to build/attack you from cos the ai is so damn lazy yo virtualy gota put road signs to the other bases for it. also dont put too many money crates cos they cause a **** lota slow down if theres more than 10 crates on one spot.

thanks for replying to my post

I dont put down any trees all i do is put raised hills for bases ramps for access with a supply dock for each of the 8 bases and a oil derick for each of the 8 bases with an additional 6 or 7 tec and dericks spread around the map i even tryed a flat map with bases seperater by water but with no joy.

but why im puzzled is that I cam play maps that i have downloaded that have far more trees , hills without any problem so could it be possible that it is the oil dericks that maybe caursing slow down.

Might be your worldbuilder. Mine does the same thing. Not only that, but my worldbuilder is a b**** to try an use, and the maps from it lag horribly. But downloaded maps work fine.

So my diagnosis is this: Since worldbuilder is Beta software and was never fully finished (lazy) it has various strange problems on various comps for various unknown reasons.

BTW War of the Worlds was pretty good in terms of special effects.

Back on topic : i dont even use the world builder. its too ******* slow and takes 5 minutes for a tank to show up :evil:

thanks for the replys

if it is worldbuilder then what version on worldbuilder do other peple use to build there maps

cos if everyone uses the beta version that came with generals and zero hour then surly all maps would slow down.

or here is another possabilaty that ive just thought of in some of my maps ive added a Almost human AI mod to try to make the computer more aggresive and maybe its that that is slowing the game play down I think ill build 2 maps 1 with mod and 1 without and test them.

Ill bet thats it. Just add the mod to your game so that all that maps run with it, but they dont have to load the mod each time the map loads.

Oh, and yes I have seen War of the Worlds. Nice effects. Cool machines. Ending wasnt all that great. And they should have showed the "battle" over the hill when the Aphaches and the F-16s flew over and 'em have it.
