VoA ~ BF2 mod based on RA2

VOA is looking for some more staff for its mod. It has the potential of being a brilliant mod for BF2. VOA is already quite far into its modeling process and has already some grate models for the game.

For thous of you that remember the good old days with RA2 and how much of a big hit it was it makes perfect sense to bring its units into the battlefield and let you use them and battle out amongst your m8s. Battlefield 2 is just the perfect game for this and with the commander mode it will just be like playing a much done up version of RA2 with units that actually are driven by real players. After commanding the units for so long on RA2 now you can acutely hop into that Tesla tank or that rhino tank or that nice prism tank.

For thous of you that have never played any of the Battefileds then i will tell you quickly what the game is about. Its a FPS but its not just any FPS, its much more, this is a FPS with the noraml FPS bit in it where you just run arround with a gun but then it has so much more aswell. First of all, the maps of the battlefileds are huge, i mean huge. lets put it this way the maps are big enouth to fly a jet round quite nicly. Witch is 1 of the manny things you can do on the battlefiled, oh yes you have all the tools of the trade at the hands of you, tanks, jets, choppers, ships ect. And you can use all of these grate weapons to go and blast your enemy to bits

But blasing your enemy to bits aint all what this game is about. There are outposts that you need to capter and defened from the enemy, also did i metion that every player on the battefiled is a real life player just like you. oh yes you can have upto 64 players on 1 map all trying to kill each other. Probaly by now you are thinking that this game is abit like C&C Renergade, trust me, battlefiled is about 10x better by a long run. The bit that really makes it diffrence is the bit i was refering to a miniuet ago, the outposts. They are really the score if you win or loose and its your job to capter and defend them so there is lots of fighting going on over these outposts. Well now just think of battlefiled 2 with RA2 units, now thats what this mod is about.

 

VOA was amongst some of the few mods that was selected to go to the EA mod day before BF2 was released and get to use the mod tools and play BF2 before BF2 was released. Svensmokavich (the mod leader) got a few tips on modeling from some of the EA staff and his new models are much better than his old ones. His new allied and soviet hovercrafts are quite amazing and will really fit into the battlefield and will be a nice weapon for ppl to play with.

But like i said at the start, this mod is now looking for some more staff. If this mod cant find some more staff you may never see these models in the battlefield.

This looks like a sweet mod.

 

Why haven't they done RA2 in the Renegade style yet..? That would be rather cool. I do hope that this mod becomes a reality, because I'm sure everyone has wanted to pilot a Kirov/Harrier/ Aircraft Carrier/Apocalyse Tank/Prism Tank/Gattling Tank/etc etc..

Pffft, it was more fun to play that Generals/Zero Hour at times.

 

Although, you're right, RA2/YR does have crappy graphics. :wink:

I was actually refering to Renegade. I liked the 2D grahipcs of RA2..

You were? Hrm..my bad. I've still never played Renegade, I refuse to, mainly because I'm not familiar enough with the TD/TS universe.

 

RA2's graphics were kinda annoying at times for me. But the voxels of the units more than made up for it.

 

It woulda been cool if you could drive the Mammoth MK-II in Renegade though. Like TD and TS, I have heard heaps about it, so I know enough about it.

 

Dammit! Why didn't I suggest this in the EA thingy that King made up for questions directed towards EA? Ah well.

YOU say RA2 has bad graphics? look at TD........(of course because it was made in '95, But Ra2/Yr graphics are decent, I think (My overall point is at the time of their release "Oooo it has great graphics!" but as soon as the nxt 1 comes "Aww that one has crappy graphics, this new one has better", so in the time it was made it was good graphics and it gets surpassed, always)

I don't know about that. There were a few RTS games out at the time in 3D.. RA2 was lacking behind being in only 2D.. Though it did look nice in that though.

I dunno if we have any modders for BF2 here mate..though I haven't been here for that long, so I'm not sure about that at all. :lol:

 

But if it's anything CnC related (and of course, this is) then I'm sure many of our modders may have a stab at it. I unfourtunaly am not a modder at all...so I can't help. I wish I could though, it looks quite awsome.
