In my opinion I think it may have been a very sick and twisted joke. Therefore, I thought up of something that may prevent future things happening like this again: that being, we make it compulsary to use Imageshak or Photobucket or any other reliable image hosting service to post images on CNCNZ, instead of linking images directly to CNCNZ. Though of course that may prevent a little bit of freedom, but I'm sure you wouldn't want to see what Cygnus, myself, and then Sonic (hopefully no-one else) saw on any other part of the forums, especially a 'Pic of the Day' thread.

Your thoughts? I think it's a good idea; it would prevent broken images and bad images from popping up due to redirects or image changes.

 

In effect, if you want to post an image, it has to be on a reliable source. Like he said, Photobucket and ImageShack would be the best choices but I'd say a personally operated web site would be fine and sites run by professional personnel would work as well.

How are you going to regulate it? Check every image everyone posts?

A custom hack could be written to check the source and only ones allowed by the hack would be allowed to be submitted.

you gota be carefull cos i dont think vick can accses imageshack as its a .us code and the china govs prevented accses to .us sites i belive.

http://www.imageheap.com hosts images. They've got loads of other things you can do with the pics too.

One of my side projects has been an image upload service for users of the CNCNZ.com forums. I've been testing things out so expect to see something soon.

well, if u do it, then some restrictions are needed.

 

like to upload pictures to cncnz, u need at least 200 posts, for example, to prevent people from ccreating an account just so they can upload pictures to link to

I have set things so that only domains like cncnz.com and other sub domains will be able to access the uploaded images. If any other domains try to access them they will get broken images.

 

I will post more about the new image upload service soon.
