Tiberian Sun/Firestorm freezing

Greetings all, I recently decided to play through the Nod side of Firestorm again, and for the most part everything was working all right... but a couple times during the campaign the game would freeze and do that thing where it just keeps looping the last half second of sound.

 

I ended up just restarting the game the 2 times it happend and everything would be fine after that. However, I am now on the final mission and cannot play for more than 2 or 3 minutes without the game doing this. The only way to get out is to control+alt+delete. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

 

I am using Windows XP and have tried running it in Windows 98 compatibility mode, but after a couple minutes it still froze. I also have the latest patch for the game. Does anybody have any advice or suggestions as to how I could fix this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

CPU: Athlon 64 FX-51

Video card: Geforce 6800 Ultra

RAM: 1 gig

Direct X: 9.0c

The only people having problems running TibSun are people with 64-bit processors; I fear that is the problem.

All right well after some messing around I ended up solving the problem. All I ended up needing to do was close my nvidia manager icon thing in the taskbar. For whatever reason that must have been interfering with the game. Seems to run fine on my processor. Thanks for the quick reply though!

Cool, I'll remeber that for the future.

You only need that Nvidia desktop manager icon running if your always changing your display settings or you have custom profiles for your display. If stay with 1 resolution and never use the profiles disable it from starting when Windows XP loads.
