Beginning to Mod

I would like to mod, but have no idea how to....any suggestions on how to get started???

Do you have TFD? And if you do, where are the art files for it?

which game do you want to mod? if you are just beginning, id say that red alert 1 is the easiest game to modify. no voxels to worry about, easy as pie rules.ini, and a comprehensive singleplayer scenario editor for when you get a bit more advanced.

Ok, I'll do that...but do you know where the art files are? (right now, I'm just replacing a cameo, but will do more stuff with it after that)

The graphics, audio and INI files are all stored in the MIX files in the game directories.
