jackj 0 Posted April 3, 2006 Okay, so I am trying to play Command and Conquer on Win XP and I take install.exe and do the compatability to Win 95 and all that happens is a console quickly pops up, the screen flickers, and everything goes back to as if I hadn't even turned it on. PLEASE help I loved that game to an extreme and now I can't figure out how to play it on XP. (I figure this is the place to ask ) Share this post Link to post

jackj 0 Posted April 3, 2006 Well, it doesn't even install, how would I follow those steps? The autoplay doesn't seem to run when I put the disk in either. I can't get much anything to go right :? To explaine the problem better, when I double click on Install.exe or Setup.exe when I click one of those they appear in a black background box saying "DOS/4GW Professinal Protected Mode Run-time Version 1.97 Copyright <c> Rational Systems, Inc. 1990-1994" Then the screen flickers as if I just started a game and then the window closes and no trace of a running install can be found. Please God someone know how Share this post Link to post
Nyerguds 102 Posted April 8, 2006 jackj, compatibility mode won't help you, nor will any instructions you may find to install C&C95 on XP... since your C&C isn't C&C95. You got yourself a genuine DOS C&C. Be proud man. All C&C95 owners will be jealous of your non-interlaced movies This will get it running for you: http://cnc2sw.planetcnc.gamespy.com/dos_xp.html#install If you got any questions/problems/remarks just ask me. I wrote that guide. Share this post Link to post

All C&C95 owners will be jealous of your non-interlaced movies You know when music artists get gold disc presentations, I'm thinking of doing that with all my C&C games as a lasting memory of great times. EALA do it, every game they've ever developed (and more( goes right down the corridoor Share this post Link to post

All thanks to you Nyerguds C&C Gold is in 640x480 (well 640x400 actually)... yours is in 320x200 And even C&C95 is still in 256 colors, so no difference there. Share this post Link to post
