its noble to give your money to the needy...but is giving money to african children a logical investment....i mean those children will survive...but then what? they may die later on....

 

i think he should invest in certain research programs and social projects...maybe that way it will have a more lasting and permanent effect on the betterment of life and society..

 

he has a lot of money that could go to good use...i think he should invest in something(s) that make a difference over time and progress human existence...

Personally if I get rich I would donate for these things:

 

Cure of A.I.D.S.

Cure of skin cancer. (In Texas this is the most sigificant so I would for this first, but once you find a cure of one cancer the rest should be simpler)

Cure of Downs Syndrome (Aunt suffers from that)

 

But whatever, his choices are for charity, they're good too.

I agree with Redasblood. If I donate(longshot), I'd do something to better society as a whole then benefit some homeless childern. I'd pretty much donate to what TSBO had, as well as try to work on some stuff involving spacecraft, etc.

Well, it's not your money or your decision. The fact that he's doing ANYTHING charitable with it is remarkable.

Actually thats quite wrong. Sex yes you can get it, but research has proven you can get it through other ways too. Also birth, and that you can't prevent, unless abortion, but most people who have A.I.D.S. don't know.

What research? You can only become infected with AIDS through very intimate contact... this includes sex, of course, but sure, it could also be bad blood transfusions or used needles, or something like that. Body fluids to body openings. With modern technology, blood screenings are now virtually fool proof, and used needles are REALLY only a problem in drug user circles (cleanliness being the last thing on their minds). The only real tragedy- the real innocents who get AIDS- are the children born with it, and yes that is a tragedy. But for the most part, there is a damn good reason why you get AIDS. It isn't anything like cancer which strikes anyone and everyone, regardless of who you are. THAT'S what needs our attention.
