Carolina wins Stanley Cup!

The Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup! The Edmonton Oilers tried hard, but they lost, but they were 8th in their division and came up to the Stanley Cup and forced GAME 7! www.nhl.com

 

I liked both teams but I've liked the Oilers since I was little, so I am kind of sad, but still, it was a great game.

Thanks to the locked out season screwing everything up and ESPN not renewing their interest in broadcasting the games I never really followed the NHL this season. However the Stanley Cup Finals were on TV and I watched all of them except game 1 because they showed up out of no where really, I never expected them to be on at all.

 

As sad as it is the sport of pro hockey in North America has been damaged thanks to the lock out. It was in trouble before the lock out anyway with declining TV ratings etc... and generally a crappy product on the ice. The new rules have made the game faster and increased scoring but there are still to many penalties being called.

 

I'm not a fan of either the Hurricanes or Oliers but good on the Hurricanes for their win. Its a pity though, only the fans in Carolina or Edmonton are the only one who really care.
