Agnellus 0 Posted August 14, 2006 I'm quite sure you've recieved this error topic a million times, but there seems to be no solution in sight for this particular bug. The problem: Red Alert 2 will not install. Rather, when you are *supposed* to be taken to the installation screen, there's a blank window and a error message moments later (nothing else happens). I have never encountered any problem quite like this, and I am running on Window XP, and have tried a variety of solutions. I have tried to run the exe responsable for installation in compatibility mode, same thing. I have adjusted the IDE channels (as suggested by EA) as well as update the Safe Disc drivers or whatever they are. I have also restarted the computer in Safe Mode and attempted to reinstall afterwards with no result. The only thing that works is making the CD an image file and running it with Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools (the former brought in to see if there was any differing result), however . . . When I emulate the CD, the game has a nasty habit of crashing at certain points. Though I am told that the Windows Installation thingy must be set to automatic, I am about as knowledgable when it comes to computers as a Squid would be about dry land (IE: Why can't I breath?). I would much like this error fixed, as I have played it before on Windows XP and have found Red Alert 2 to be my favorit C&C game of all time. Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted August 15, 2006 Are there any changes you've made since then? Installed new software? etc.. Share this post Link to post
comander starlin 6 Posted September 29, 2006 the solution to this problem is to set the compatibility of the disc's .exe for the installation which is done under the properties of the installation file. Share this post Link to post
