Masked Shah 5 Posted December 16, 2006 With the searing hatred towards "Generals", and the rise of the future C&C3 and the possible C&C Red Alert 3. What is to become of the GLA? Technically they are the uber-under dogs of the C&C world, the losers of all losers. "Generals" is considered by many as the anti-C&C, they will probably never ever bring back the series again. "Generals" was set out as proganda for the Bush era, now that it is drawing to a close... and we'll probably never see "Generals" ever again. The GLA may never be used ever again, but hopefully another army/Nation/faction will adopt the dirty and sneaky tactics of the GLA. This my only hope. I happen to like the sneaking, stealth, boobytraps, sabotage, and dirty play rather than the direct face to face tactics. The only group that came close to the scum-bag play of the GLA was the Allies of Red Alert. They allowed spies, mines, fast light tanks, ultimate surveilence, and instant travel (Chronosphere). Let the testiment of shadow tactics (my term, I coined it) ring true as actual competion against super tech, and iron gauntlet tactics. I can hope that full dirty play will return to C&C play. JahSpoR 0 Posted December 18, 2006 "Generals" is considered by many as the anti-C&C yeah, and im one of the "many". But I sure like playing with GLA. I relly like sneak attacks and sucide bikers and stuff. I relly hope that the GLA tactics will be used by some force in newer C&C games. I think uber-under dogs is kinda good description, and if I where to decide, I would think that "The Forgotten" should take up where GLA left (if you can say that). I could easy see a technical (that lawsy vehicle) with some mutants in it instead. Share this post Link to post
Masked Shah 5 Posted December 18, 2006 The Forgotten? I haven't read any of the C&C 3 news, because I'm really waiting for Red Alert 3. I am assuming the Forgotten are mutants and infected people faction, are they good or evil? Neutral? I like the run down, rusty look of the dime store army... Speed, stealth, and planning, it doesn't get any better A group of nobodies overthrowing or taking over the greater armies... I really like that... be it a good or evil army faction... A grand scale army reduced to dust, thanks in part to several saboteurs and one well placed bomb-truck. The hiding is the best part, but they made american surveillance in the Generals Game too powerful... I mean every unit and his mother could detect stealth units... thus destroying any advange they that could balance the game.... Generals really is a lop-sided Bush-propaganda game.... they could have done better. Share this post Link to post
JahSpoR 0 Posted December 19, 2006 ok. Let me explain the way i see the forgotten. I see The Forgotten as mutants, that means civillians infected with tiberium. Large groups of the mutants gather and collects weapons from dead GDI or NOD soldiers in the battlefield. They dont have any big leader and arent any big "corporation" if you can say that. (no cash relly). But they sure know how to steal a buggy, hummer or even a small tank. And as far as i know they slowly begins to fight both NOD and GDI. Many civillians joined GDI and some NOD, but all the infected ones wasnt' welcome anywhere. Thats why the chose to stick together to survive. In the temperated areas the live in the cities fortifying the empty buildings. In the tundra they doesnt live far from the civillians villages. Their vehicles are a bit rusty with custom made weaponry. They dont have that much of heavy vehicles like tanks, becouse they as i said earlier doesnt have big funds like the high tech GDI and NOD. Thats why they have to use cheap tactics. like hiding and waiting for units to pass by so they can surprise them from all sides. I sure want to see some GLA action there Share this post Link to post
Masked Shah 5 Posted December 19, 2006 Well EA saying that the forgotten are merged with another army... So much for that idea... Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted December 23, 2006 Wait. The Forgotten are allied to both Nod and GDI. Evidence? Ghost Stalker (GDI) and Mutant Hijacker (Nod) in Tiberian Sun. They're like split into two, since some of them chose to join Nod because GDI left them behind, and some of them chose to join GDI because Nod was opressive and used them as Guinea Pigs for their Tiberium research. Masked Shah 5 Posted December 23, 2006 Sparse units stink... I want a whole army. Share this post Link to post

Masked Shah 5 Posted December 25, 2006 Well, there is the expansions for C&C 3... Maybe the forgotten will pop up, maybe even the GLA (ok maybe not). Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted December 26, 2006 depending on how effective the scrin are one of the factions may have to start fighting like the GLA Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted December 26, 2006 depending on how effective the scrin are one of the factions may have to start fighting like the GLA well Nod pretty much does, but they are more powerful and organized. Share this post Link to post
Masked Shah 5 Posted December 26, 2006 Nod did play like the GLA in C&C 1, but they upgrade to tech fighters. They have lasers, speed, and stealth... they are more hybrid. I was looking for down-to-earth play like hijackers, spies, sabotuers, boobytraps. When C&C1's Nod first came out I was in heaven... the speed and cunning. Then allies of Red Alert were underdogs as well, they had to rely on speed, spies, recon, and lots of thinking. Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 offered a little of dirty play on both sides (or three on expansions). Then Generals united all, I mean every single dirty trick you could possible do to just one side (though China had those neat hackers). Bomb trucks, spies, recon bikes, terrorist units, booby-traps, camo defenses, instant travel, speed. The GLA could've been better if it weren't for the fact every america unit and his mother could see stealth units. It also took a long to time to plan anything, you had to wait for a dozen RPG men to be built to load onto one single bus... I mean comeon. Hacker, traps, anything that breaks coventional warfare to up the stakes. The shadow tactics might be broken up and shared in this upcoming game. But I can wait for a return to chaos, and mayhem. I know C&C will make that a faction who will be using those tactics someday. I can wait, I got all the time in the world. Share this post Link to post
JahSpoR 0 Posted December 27, 2006 you want GLA in C&C3. undercover as forgotten or something right? or you just want some evil shadow tactics? Share this post Link to post
Masked Shah 5 Posted December 29, 2006 tactics... The GLA is finished... We will probably never see them again. So now they are mine... I will always keep the GLA theme and symbol. I just want the tactics, that's it. I will play as whatever... good or evil... as long as they keep the tactics. The GLA symbol will be my personal symbol... my banner But I will play whatever army that has those shadow tactics... Share this post Link to post
cyclepsycho 0 Posted December 30, 2006 Of the two different campains in the original C&C Nods was, in my opinion, far superior. GDI's was cool and all but it seemed kind of repetitive, just the same old rutine for almost every mission, build up a base, then an overwhelming force and charge into the enemy base, with a few variations of course. Nods campain on the other hand, was a work of genius, you needed to know how to use your small supply of troops and vehicles like a scalpel, you needed to know how to use hit and run tactics. Most of all you needed to know how to fight dirty and conservatively, non of that cheap-ass tank rushing. The allies in RA had a somewhat similar play style, but they lost the terrorist/ gurilla fighter feel. The Nod organization in TS still maintained the misson style of small amounts of fast units fighting a much larger enemy, but they traded gurilla warfare for that of the ultra high-tech variety. RA2, in my opinion the worst game in the C&C series, lost almost all of the fighting style I loved so much in previous games, although the ability to hide in buildings and shoot from windows made up for this somewhat. Just some thoughts. Share this post Link to post
JahSpoR 0 Posted December 30, 2006 Interesting thoughts... I relly hope that NOD will be the following: - A Force that has ability to make people fear. - A Force that uses dirty tactics as much as red laser. - A Force that manages to easily survive even though 3 / 4 parts of the base is gone. well... those things would be nice... NOD is NOD and will NOT be FORGOT! Share this post Link to post
