General Locutus 0 Posted January 8, 2007 This problem is bothering me. When you play skirmish against Normal Army, it's "normal" (duh!) to beat the enemy. But what happens in Hard/Brutal mode? I'm still building my thrid building, when the enemy troops are coming and burn down everything a have. I have NO time to build protection or barracks. How does this mode works? Does the opponed have more resources than the player when the game starts? Thank you. Over and out. General Locutus Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted January 8, 2007 It's all a matter of getting off the mark as soon as possible. If you do not act quickly enough, the AI will have you for breakfast before you are able to do anything. Which, in your case, is exactly what's happening. Here's how I defeat the AI on Brutal: Firstly get the dozer you already have to build a power plant. Then click the HQ and build 2 more dozers. With the first and second available dozers build the barracks and the supply depot simultaneously. When the barracks is done, crank out as many basic infantry as you can. Once the supply depot is done, build at least 2-3 more chinooks/trucks or if GLA as many workers as the queue or money will allow. from there build another power plant, then get straight onto the tank factory, churn out at least 5-9 tanks depending on your money. While doing that get a focus on your base defenses, and build these like crazy around your base, or where you know the enemy will come from. During this time, use any units you have built to defend the base. It's a matter of doing 2 things at once all the time. It is also strictly advisable that during the above rush to defend you train your infantry to capture. Then you'll be able to break away one or two units from the base to capture oil derricks. From there do not hang around and turtle inside your base. Get out there and capture all the tech buildings and derricks you can. Also try and get more choppers/trucks/workers to more supplies at the earliest possible opportunity. After the initial rush is over the AI will calm down a little for all but a short while, use this time you have to build the airports and aircraft, a healthy supply of drops/hackers & net center/Black Markets and at least a singular super weapon + anything else while massing more tanks, artillery and infantry. Your base defenses should keep the worst at bay, but it's advisable to build more dozers for defensive repair duty of these structures. If done correctly your Generals powers should be coming in thick and fast. Use these to acquire the "off the map weapons" like artillery strikes/Airstrikes. If all works well, you should be able to attack strongly between the 20-35 minute mark. Use the superweapon(s) and off map attacks before going in. You'll probably lose all your units, but so long as you replace them the instant you go to attack, the comps counter-attack shouldn't catch you off guard. An advisable tactic is to attack from 2 sides, this will divide the forces and make the AI's base easier to tear apart. If you haven't destroyed them substantially after the first attack, you should be in the position of perfect control. The enemy should then be a walkover. Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted January 8, 2007 no....you have to be able to build your base up extremely quickly and be able to balance making buildings and units; fail to do either, and you'll die. I suggest playing online, as it's more fun and you learn more  Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted January 8, 2007 I suggest playing online, as it's more fun and you learn more  For the minority of people it is fun, and a fulfilling experience. But unless you can at least beat 4 enemy AI on Brutal, all on the same team, people shouldn't even attempt online play. I've done well online over the years, but the amount of defeats are mammoth in comparison to the wins. Although AI isn't as strong as human opposition, a player who never goes online will be annihilated the instant they try. The key to being great online is to play the moment the game is out, and to put in hours upon hours of play, while the blood is still fresh. Coming in a few months down the line causes problems. That's why unless a player can defeat multiple Brutal opposition in Skirmish, they shouldn't even attempt it. It can be a very off-putting experience to say the least. And is the main reason why a lot people of people do try it, never go back online anymore than once or twice after their 1st defeat, before abandoning it entirely. Share this post Link to post
General Locutus 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Thanks C&C King, thanks everyone. I'll try the advices. About playing on-line... I have some problems with patching the game. I'll write about this problem in a different thread. Share this post Link to post
UncleBob 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Against a Hard Enemy, the idea is to kill it quickly before it can fully take advantage of its unlimited resources. For example as China Nuke/Tank on Tournament Desert: First dozer > Power > Primary Supply > Warfactory Second dozer > Secondary supply > Warfactory Then just start pumping out endless amounts of units and overun the Hard CPUs base. Once you beat it once, you will find it is a lot easier to own the Hard CPU. Once you start playing online, you will find that a lot of the principles that you have learnt in skirmish mode need to be unlearnt again vs a Human player, because Human players can adapt, unlike the computer which does pretty much the same thing all the time. Oh and btw, as USA, a few humvees filled with 3 MDs each and one ambulance can own EVERYTHING in sight, especially when you get Search and Destroy. Just remember to keep your humvees moving so enemy tanks (slow) will have to chase your humvees (fast) whilst still taking lots of damage yet dealing none. Share this post Link to post

SoulJa 0 Posted February 3, 2007 Firstly get the dozer you already have to build a power plant. Then click the HQ and build 2 more dozers. Once the supply depot is done, build at least 2-3 more chinooks/trucks or if GLA as many workers as the queue or money will allow. Don't need the 2nd Dozer.... 2 are more than enough.... when the one making the power plant is finished use that one to make the supply as you can't build a supply without a power plant (GLA exempt.... make an extra 3 workers and get them gathering supplys even before the supply is compleated as its quicker than making workers at the depo) As for supply collecters -China- 2-3 trucks depending how close to the supplys you are. 1 extra truck for every gap the size of a command center. -USA- 2 Chinnoks and add an extra one for every gap the size of 3 command centers. -GLA- 'bout 6 workers should do. Make 3 at the command center and 3 at the supply center. Don't need the inf.... maybe crank out some Rebels/Red Guard/GI's to go out and cap oils/reinforcement pads and oil deriks. from there build another power plant, then get straight onto the tank factory, churn out at least 5-9 tanks depending on your money. While doing that get a focus on your base defenses, and build these like crazy around your base, or where you know the enemy will come from. Make the 2nd power plant after the war factory.... you will have enough power for CC, Supply, Baraks and war from 1 power. USA should upgrade as it's cheeper. Build defences at Choke points Or where you don't have tanks.... IE don't build one right outside ur war factory maybe near your supplys. Choke points = the small passes and ramps to your base could be a whole screen away. During this time, use any units you have built to defend the base. It's a matter of doing 2 things at once all the time. It is also strictly advisable that during the above rush to defend you train your infantry to capture. Then you'll be able to break away one or two units from the base to capture oil derricks. Yeah.... Your enemys already got the Oils.... you've missed the 1K first capture bonus and will have to work like a mutha to get back on top Oils should be a top priority. Keep an eye on the radar if you still have a CC (Comand Center) Thou you can sell that if cash is tight as you get £1k to spend on some defences or tanks. From there do not hang around and turtle inside your base. Get out there and capture all the tech buildings and derricks you can. Also try and get more choppers/trucks/workers to more supplies at the earliest possible opportunity. You should go and make small outposts at other supply piles... Supply dock + 3-4 defences and a few AA units should be good. After the first rush the AI will either do 2 things..... screw up it's economy as it's wasted all its cash on tanks or turtle and make SW. If done correctly your Generals powers should be coming in thick and fast. Use these to acquire the "off the map weapons" like artillery strikes/Airstrikes. yup no probs with that.... Although it is worth waiting an extra min to gain a few more points to get that extra level.... 3 A-10s are better than 1 If all works well, you should be able to attack strongly between the 20-35 minute mark. SW.... Just go in through the front! Use gen powers to soffen up the defences any long range units to pick off tanks etc then just drive your tanks into the base. Target Power/War factories and the command center first, then anything you see. Was an OK walkthrough.... but what i've added will also prepare you for online play Share this post Link to post
