Right click my computer and go into properties

Once in the general tab(which it goes to automatically) look at the title called Computer:

Refer to your computer manual it'll have details about that. Failing that look up the model number of your computer on the Compaq/HP website.

You should know that you can't just stick any RAM in your computer, it needs to be the right type else your computer won't accept it. ;)

Before you go through all the trouble of upgrading your ram and that, what kind of video card do you have? As its all pointless if that isn't up to scratch to run C&C3. ;)

It is a Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS,910GML Express chipset family

C&C 3 may be playable with that video chipset. If it does work it will be in low detail mode though. And C&C 3 looks really crappy in low quality.

If you want to find everything about your system download and install PC Wizard 2007 from http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php

Hm... If you do buy a new ram stick, buy from a dealer that allows you to return the ram stick just in case it won't fit.

P.S. Don't press the ram too deep or try to force it in if it dosen't fit. You might burn your laptop, like the dumb kid I know next door.

I checked with dick smith (electronics and PC store for all you international members) won't cost me as much as C&C 3 did so thats a plus but I still need to find the right type and size for my laptop

Yea I noticed the quality when I tested the demo so reminded me of generals so upgrading the video card is next on the plan

EDIT ok I found the type of ram I have From looking at PC wizard thanks for the link Sonic its a 256MB DDR-SDRAM

We are talking about a laptop here right? That means you need to buy SODIMM modules, and they are expensive.

Look here http://www.ascent.co.nz/Category.aspx?majorcatID=31 and search for SODIMM using the product filter.

Some advice, don't buy any ram from DSE. They get import cheap **** and rebrand it with a DSE sticker.

Hey what if I have an extra empty 256MB slot? would I be able to buy the same card as the one in my laptop?

extra 256mb slot? Are you sure it can't hold more than that?

but if you had an empty slot then yes you could use the same RAM

I heard some have 2 slots for RAM not 100% on mine though I'd need to check for sure though all I know how to find out is to open it up

If you meant the other way around like can't it hold 512 or higher I think it can just figured this would be cheaper and easier to locate

most laptops have 2 slots, and you should check out crucial.com if you don't know what kind of ram you need, if you know your manufacturer and series of computer then it will tell you what kind of ram you need and it is guaranteed to work, it will also tell you the max amount of ram you can fit into that slot

if you mean by manifactuer compaq and the series is presario note book

Checked the site out I can hold more but for now I think I'll just hunt down another 256 MB card same as my other one

the site will show you some compatible options for your ram and there is no reason you shouldn't be able to find a 256mb card for like $20 or something

Could be its minimizing because the little intergrated videocard can't take it!

Oh ok then I'll still upgrade that RAM though want to have a decent time playing it

so does it have to be a specific video to fit in my laptop?

Checked what card is needed for C&C3 so I need to know if any card can fit into the laptop or like the ram it needs to be the right one

Most laptops I know you can't upgrade the video card as its all bundled on the motherboard... Yours might be a different story but yeah...

Post up your laptop's model number. ;)

If you really want to play decent games well you really need a desktop PC...
