mod question

Hi. hate to be a dummy but thinking of dowlnaoding Blitzkreig 2 mod. Not familiar with mods. Will I still be able to play the regular C&C General's Zero Hour?. In other words does id modify or just supplement the original. Have always been afraid of mods (loved total annihilation but afraid its mods might corrupt the original versions, so never did so).

Second question is- how can you tell if a map will play in skirmish mode if the author doesn't say so. I have downloaded several great maps only to play in skirmish and the other teams just sit there. I am a scourage of skirmish but haven't made the big leap to multiplayer mostly due to only a dial up (although the broadband at work allows for map dowloads via a CD burner for home). Thanks

Blitz 2 is pretty clever and you can play the mod or Generals with the simple click of a button.

To check the map, open it up in the World Editor and if there are all sorts of crazy lines and waypoints in the bases then it's skirmish compatable - there's no other way to tell.

You might want to take a look a program called the Generals/Zero Hour Mod Swapper v1.1.14 (Ijust uploaded the latest version). Click on that link for more details....Here is a screen shot though.....

 

 

To check for skirmish maps try the clever little program called C&C Generals Map AI Detector v0.23. It scans the map files and reports back if they are set up for AI or not. Its much faster that opening them up in the Worldbuilder all of the time :wink:
