C&C YR Network Problems - assistance appreciated.

Hi,

I am running a 3pc LAN at my home, 2 WinXP machines and a Win2k Pro machine, all have Yuri 1001 on and all work fine. However when I go to a friends to hookup and play LAN we cannot seem to get it working. Ill explain as best I can...

The game loads fine, after a lot of fiddling with the network device address things (the drop down list of what I think are MAC addresses or something, I havent a clue when it comes to networking this game!) we eventually get to the stage where at least one computer lists both players in the lobby, and can also show on the other computer when a new game has been created. When I start a new game on my laptop (as I seem to be the only one out of both machines able to start a game) it shows up fine, but when my friend goes to join the game seems to freeze out all the buttons and only the mouse pointer moves around, while still playing the music. After about 20 or 30 seconds it comes back with a message on my friends computer in the chat box saying "Request Denied"

I had the same problem on my computers at home, simply disabled the wireless network card in my gateway computer and it worked fine. However we only have two network devices listed on my laptop and my friends machine, both are the 1394 firewire ports and we disabled them both as well, it just doesnt want to work. I figure its probably something on his machine thats stopping it but we just cant fathom out what. Weve uninstalled the firewall software (Norton) and the only thing firewalled is the other network connection that connects to the internet, and that is only firewalled by XPs basic firewall service.

All we keep getting is "Request Denied" every time.

I did browse through the tech support forums here but couldnt find anything that seemed to relate to the same problem I have. We both tried setting the IPX to both Auto Detect and also to Ethernet II with a network address of all 0's (00000000, I think)

We have also reinstalled and re-patched the game over a DOZEN times and it doesnt make any difference, so we are basically at our wits end.

If anybody has any ideas, or knows how to fix this, I would truly appreciate the assistance. :)

Are you sure you selected the right network card in the game? You have one where you see all those IDs, now you need the right one.

You can find out the right one by entering

ipconfig /all

in a command prompt, and look which one belongs to the correct network card.
