Koen 2 Posted February 11, 2004 I will assume you're using TibEd 2. It should be possible there, but there could be bugs in there. You should be able to enter Arabic characters in the string text box (only the value box). Now, if you switch to another string and then look back, is the value there? Or are there some boxes? Make sure that in TibEd Preferences, you select an Unicode font (like Arial Unicode) to use for TibEd. If the selected font does not support Unicode, then you'll get boxes (but this can also be caused by a bug somehwere in string handling of course). Let me know which font you're using. Guest mhmd_1983 Posted February 14, 2004 ok I'm now a member in this forum , Oh by the way I'll try to start translating Tibed to arabic .. Share this post Link to post
Koen 2 Posted February 16, 2004 The main problem with special languages like Arabic (Chinese, etc) is that I'm unable to test what's going wrong. I'll give it another try myself I guess. I'm not sure if it's possible to translate TibEd 2 into Arabic; the characters would need to be entered as Unicode into TibEd2res.xml (which needs to be done by a special XML editor, I think). The road is going to be a bit bumpy to get it to work. Share this post Link to post
Koen 2 Posted February 16, 2004 I've just checked: You can enter Arabic characters (at least, through copy/paste from the Character map) in the *Value* textbox of the strings. Other textboxes do not support Arabic characters (because they cannot be saved properly inside the CSF files anyway); only the values can contain Unicode characters. This works on Windows 2000 (English) with additional arabic characters installed. Share this post Link to post

Koen 2 Posted February 20, 2004 I'm using Tibed 1.6 to edit red alert 2 and i think arabic font doesn't work inside the game .. the *value* accept arabic fonts but the game show me some sqauers or unknown chrachters .. any idea Oh wait, I was talking about TibEd 2. The TibEd 1.6 CSF editor is different and I'm not sure it works there. Judging from your tests, it doesn't. I'll have to look into that. Share this post Link to post
Guest mhmd Posted February 27, 2004 Is this mean that arabic fonts are working with tibed 2 to edit C&C Generals .. ? Ok I'm waitting for your answer ! Share this post Link to post
Koen 2 Posted February 27, 2004 Yes, they work in TibEd2+Generals on my PC. That's never a 100% guarantee though. I rewrote the TibEd 2 CSF editor compared to the 1.6 one, so I'll have to start backporting the fixes to get it to work. Share this post Link to post
Guest mhmd Posted March 14, 2004 I think we need to change the Ra font so it works with arabic fonts like changing it to thomas Share this post Link to post
