RyanFialcowitz 0 Posted November 1, 2007 I was under the impression that Red Alert was intended as a prequel to Command & Conquer, but while playing today I noticed that the first Soviet mission has a caption saying Present Day at the bottom of the screen. Given the level of technology they have it seems obvious that this is meant to reflect a time period much later then the forties. I should further note that the opening cutscene with Einstein specifically mentions 1945, I believe. If that was meant to be the present then why give the date and then later not give the date and say Present Day instead. Further Einstein still being alive if it was meant to take place in the present. . . My head hurts. I hear now that EA intends to relink the games together. How could this work? A cookie goes to whomever can provide a satisfactory explanation! -Ryan P. Fialcowitz Share this post Link to post

Luk3us 63 Posted November 2, 2007 The C&C timeline is all messed up once they bought out RA2, it was fine before then. Simply though, RA > TD > TS > TW | RA2 > YR. They're fix it up in the future hopefully. Share this post Link to post
RyanFialcowitz 0 Posted November 2, 2007 Is there another topic that answers my questions? I could not find any. What year does Red Alert take place in? The opening cutscenes seem to indicate the mid 1990s, but the historical characters in the game seem to contradict this. My question isn't really about it's relation to Command & Conquer so much as the above. -Ryan P. Fialcowitz Share this post Link to post

JahSpoR 0 Posted November 2, 2007 I wouldn't say there relly is a timeline,. It's fiction. With Hitler removed, you can't relate to our real timeline. Share this post Link to post
RyanFialcowitz 0 Posted November 2, 2007 I didn't see anything in those links that answered my question. My question isn't about how the games relate to each other it's about when RedAlert takes place. -Ryan P. Fialcowitz Share this post Link to post
JahSpoR 0 Posted November 2, 2007 Im afraid there is no answer mister, since developers didn't relly care. Logically Red Alert 1 takes place before Red Alert 2. The genre Red Alert takes place in annother "dimension" if you want, simply becouse it's fiction. The tanks and stuff might look like something from mid 60 or so. But almost none of the stuff exists in real world. If you find an answer somewhere else please post it. You could try send a mail to EA, but afraid the don't care either. Share this post Link to post
RyanFialcowitz 0 Posted November 2, 2007 But I'm not crazy right? It is odd to label those scenes as taking place in the present day when the others had specific dates? Wikipedia says it takes place in the fifities. The only thing that would lend credance to that is that Einstein and Stalin are alive. Oh, and Nadia at the end says that Nod will tire of Russia in the 1990s. I guess that puts the kabosh on it taking place then. So, I guess the answer is in the game. . . -Ryan P.
