Cannot install Red Alert- Win XP

I try to install my old discs and no luck. I get to the first screen, click "proceed", and i get an error saying the "Windows 5.1 is currently running. This is a Windows 95 product." And then it closes the program. I have every patch I could think of downloaded, but It seems I must install the game for them to work. Any thoughts?

Set the compatibility of all executable programs to "Windows 95". That should do the trick.

Right click ---> properties ---> compatibility mode
