Trouble Connecting with EA Online

Recommended Posts

Ok I've followed the guides over here at www.portforward.com but it still doesn't seem to allow me to get online.

I was having this problem where I could log into eaonline ok, but all the chat rooms were empty. Now I can't even log into ea online.

I haven't tried creating a new identity though. I know that was one of the suggestions by Luk3us.

I also have tried with my firewall (ZA) turned off - but just once and I haven't really investigated it fully (no time!)

Any help?

I'm just guessing here, if your turning the ZA Firewall off check to make sure Windows Firewall hasn't activated in its place. Check the manual for C&C 3, I think there a section towards the back about connecting for online play.

Did you know that ZA firewall is crap, If your router is decent it should provide with enough protection.

Nup - news to me.

Are there other software firewalls that improve my lot?

I'll check the manual when I get home on the weekend...

I recommend avast! for a general AV and firewall. It's not a true firewall but it has some defenses like one but it's mostly just a great AV. Firewalls are kind of crap unless you totally fear a compromise by someone (I hope you honestly don't keep your bank info, credit card, etc on your computer). Echoing what Sonic said, routers should be able to act as your main firewall.

Have you tried opening your DMZ? Try that, if that doesn't work, it's definitely not a port issue and you need to contact EA/your ISP.

Hi.

I believe you mentioned in another thread that you play via Hamachi. I had a similiar problem. If you want to go online after playing via Hamachi, do this:

From the Main Menu, goto

MULTIPLAYER -> NETWORK -> OPTION -> NETWORK

You should see an 'Online IP' and a 'Port Number'

Click the arrow and change your online ip from 5.121.???.??? (ie: hamachi #) to your ip address.

Logon and go online and play.

Likewise, if you want to play via Hamachi after being online, you may have to go back and change your online ip back to your Hamachi address.

Good luck.

PS: Keep Zonealarm because it is fine.

I have no issues with Zonealarm and playing online.

My new identity idea only works when the EA servers are acting up. By the sounds of it, the problem is on your end...

Wireless routers FTL!

Umm, all those steps are completely unnecessary. You run hamachi, join a channel, start C&C3 up and it will detect the hamachi IP by itself and you click network play and done. That's it. Your instructions are a waste of time...

A new identity would maybe help, worth a shot, but wireless router ain't the issue. Unless your magically happens to go out every time you just happen to connect to EA servers. ;)

Re-read the first post in the thread, or the title of this thread. After that, re-read my post. We are not talking about playing via Hamachi.

Feel free to ask if you need any further clarification.

Or you could let Ghen try the advice I gave.
