Is everything all right with the scripts that you're using at CNCNZ.com?

Recommended Posts

The server's PHP has recently been updated to 5.4 and that has deprecated several lines of codes in many places. It broke PPM's main & mobile site, the C&C Top 101, among other things that I already fixed. So far, things seem to look fine at CNCNZ's site, but if you see anything weird on things like image gallery, RSS export, the forum itself (although I doubt a recently updated IPB will have problems with that), please, point it out and I'll try to help fixing it. Most of times, the easiest way to find broken scripts by PHP's latest update is by noticing the presence of 200mb+ error log files at their directory.

Yeah everything is working fine on CNCNZ.com Banshee. If there were any problems I would have sent a quick a PM to you and Phil. Would the PHP update have anything to with the server load jumping up? I've noticed it stays on this most of the time now.....

Used to say 0.89 when I would see it in the IPB AdminCP.

the C&C Top 101

Holy crap, its that thing still around?

I think it may affect the server load, at least in the following days after the installation. The reason is the generation of uber huge 200mb+ logs that I've mentioned in my first post.

And yea, C&C Top 101 is still around and chickendippers still cares about it.

I took the C&C Top 101 code off CNCNZ.com months ago. Mostly in an effort to reduce the clutter around the site. Today was the first time I had looked at it in a long time.

I asked about server load a while back, may be of some use to you guys.

Hello,

Well.. That's a question i'd ask you.. "Normal" can be various things.. If that is a single processor server, that's not too good.. If that's a quad core server.. It's quite nice.. If it's a quad quad-core machine, it's freaking great.

The server load is basically the percentage of the total processor usage.

An example.. If you have a single processor machine, a load of 1.00 means that the CPU is totally 'maxed out', meaning that everything that is sent to it is being handled, but, one more thing would be queued and delayed.

A load of 1.00 on a 16 processor system means that 1/16th of the total processing power is being used without queuing any commands.

So.. Really, what you want to find is a baseline of where that normally runs over time.. A nice average, and pretty much remember it.. Because, I can't say if that's normal for your server or not. Your host might be better able to say. But, with modern servers, that sounds right in line.

Even a single processor being at a load of 1.50 isn't HORRIBLE.. You don't want to always run there, but, spiking to that isn't a problem. It's when you see those loads of 16 on a single processor server, or 180 on ANY server that something probably isn't right.

So that's why CNCNZ was under system maintenance temporarily because the site was having trouble loading yesterday.

@Sonic: That topsites certainly misses CNCNZ.com.

@neogrant: This server has 8 cores. So, the server load is not that much horrible, but we have conditions to have a smaller server load.

@zocom7: I don't know, buddy.

Only in Today's Pageviews. It still counts Total Views.

Can't say I noticed. Every time I was online everything was working as expected.

Well I don't miss the Top101 tracker on the site if that helps ;)

Only in Today's Pageviews. It still counts Total Views.

I don't see how it can count/track anything. There is no trace of the Top101 counter on CNCNZ.com any more. This is the only tracker we need http://extremetracking.com/open?login=cncnzx

Well, what I mentioned is residual data from the time when CNCNZ still had the CnCTop101 tracker. Chickendippers never removed CNCNZ from the list. However, a few weeks ago I visited the tracker and saw 3 hits in Today's Views for whatever reason :o
