  1. The chassis looks like its from a M48 Patton while the turret is fictional, made to look like the standard APA tank.

Will you buy or upgrade to Windows 8?

Indeed like this: But there are things that are easier to work with like multiple sound devices, network devices (though the network adapter priority dialog is hidden away for some reason), changing the volume levels of running applications, searching for files. Microsoft has a strange way of making things more "user friendly". After a while I just got used to it... Still like Win2000 the best though as it has less BS in it than XP, though the support for DOS-based applications is more shaky than the support XP got since Win2000 was more business oriented and thus NT based. MS improved Win9x/DOS support in NT with XP as it was released as a consumer OS as well, beginnig the whole Home/Pro trend they have. even though they sort of had it with Win95 and NT 4.0, and ME and 2000...

I have no issues doing what I want in Win7 within 5 seconds.
  4. No bases mode can be pretty fun in C&C....for about 10 minutes On a more serious note you could call in reinforcements from "off map" like many Real Time Tactics (RTT) games do. Strategy games without bases are fun, but their game play certainly does not fit with the C&C style of RTS at all. They are either very action oriented like World in Conflict, more realistic and on a larger scale like WarGame or semi-realistic on a smaller scale like Men of War. Though there are great RTT sci-fi games too like the Ground Control series.

What? You must confuse Windows 2000 with Windows ME. Windows 2000 was one of the most stable versions of Windows ever released. Many people preferred Windows 2000 over pre-Service Pack 2 XP as it was more stable and used less resources. Windows ME on the other hand was so buggy that it would get a BSoD if you opened Paint...

    Chat Box or IRC

That must have been many years ago as C&C Comm has had a chat since it started almost 6 years ago: first AJAX Chat and now the CnCNet IRC rooms.
  10. PC's have supported DVD disks since 1995. Though it was a mess until the 2000's due to different conflicting DVD standards and hardware such as MPEG accelerator cards. The same applied to DVD players. It wasn't widely used by consumers until at least 2004/2005. DVD's can't contain a lot of HD footage (720p/1080p) hence why they commonly feature enhanced definition (ED) footage (480p). But this is getting of track. I just wanted to point out that resolutions higher and similar to "HD" have existed longer than most people think. and has been commonly available to PC users for a long time. (Even some DOS games had 1024x768 display modes.)
  11. It was widely used in the digital/media industry, but not by consumers. If I remember correctly "Star Trek The Next Generation" was filmed with 4k cameras and that was in the early 90s.
  12. The technology to record and display 1920 x 1080 (1080p) video existed in the 1980's My brother had a monitor that could display 1600 x 1200 resolution in 2002.
  13. As far as forum software goes I like FluxBB and SMF. I would like MyBB if it would ever work properly when I set it up. The only problem I have with SMF is that it looks dated, but that's almost a plus for the forum I run.
  14. That looks more like a UH-60 Blackhawk than a AH-64D Apache Longbow. Could be related to the microwave weapon that was changed to killing crews and later removed or some sort of melting weapon.
  15. Vivendi still exists. In the form known as Activision-Blizzard which is called that because Vivendi owned Blizzard. When Activision and Vivendi merged to become Activision-Blizzard publishers and studios under Vivendi got the axe such as Sierra.

    Portable C&C Tsun

The beta of the new version I uploaded on tore29.com is NOT based on The First Decade and uses the normal movies files. The old officially released version on cnc-comm is based on TFD and requires the TFD movies files. Have you even read what I've been writing? Beta of the new version (Normal TS based): http://tore29.com/tsins/TSinstaller-beta7r4.exe Officially released version (TFD based): http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=41 They download DIFFERENT files. I'll take that as he using the beta one as he didn't mention using the cnc-comm one. The SP content isn't optional on the cnc-comm one.

The only "adapted" movies pack is in the old installer on cnc-comm (the one I officially released) the beta I linked to from tore29.com doesn't use any adapted movies files as they are directly copied from the TS and FS CD's. (Their last edited date is 1999 for movies01.mix and movies02.mix and 2000 movies03.mix.)

Did you try that with HyperPatch? Are you trying it with the old one (the one I still have at cnc-comm) or the beta of the new one I linked here (the one hosted on tore29.com). The one on cnc-comm is based on TFD and won't work properly with the movies from the CDs but the beta I linked to from tore29.com is based on normal TS FS (from the CD's) and uses HyperPatch with the NoCD patch Nyerguds made for TS and loads the movies from the CD's just fine. What adopted movies pack?

    Portable C&C Tsun

That's odd because they should. I even tested it from my own TS CD's and it uses the original movies01.mix, movies02.mix and movies03.mix files if you choose to download them through the installer. This is not based on TFD as clearly stated in the readme (which is shown in the installer and in its own folder.

You can try the latest version of my TS installer: http://tore29.com/tsins/TSinstaller-beta7r4.exe The only thing missing is making it run properly on Windows 8 and solving some issues with the external options program. (and moving the files it downloads to a better server). It includes everything you ask for (HyperPatch etc.)

I've played Arma 3 Alpha a lot recently. Pretty good even for an alpha version.

What mobile device do you currently use?

A HTC Desire Z The keyboard is nice for many emulators including DOSbox as shown here. Gives me something to do while waiting for things.
  23. Ah Joe Bostic, a man you see often during the credits of Westwood games. Such as this from the manual of C&C95

Valve has broken every Half-Life mod

Looking at the later comments seems like most of the mods work if you just install them to the right folders. and in addition Valve has changed the file format to make updates easier thus making modding easier. People are just overreacting as usual...though I haven't installed any other mod than Sven-Coop yet.

Valve has broken every Half-Life mod

and here I am playing Sven-Coop on the Steam version of Half Life without any issues.... I see that they have removed Direct 3D as a rendering option which leaves us with OpenGL and software rendering modes which is ok as the D3D option was buggy. Probably related to the Mac and Linux versions
