Tiberium RPG Benchmark Test
AZ-Stalker replied to a topic in Tiberium Chronicles RPG Project [Archived Project]
Pre-menu black screen was around 12 seconds. Menu loaded normally and I can actually hear Pharotek and the TS menu sounds unlike before. Loaded up in full screen too after a fresh install. First thing, where's the quit game button? I had to alt+tab+close application to get out. On to more pressing matters; I had choppy gameplay (lag spike) just before the last light test corner, screenshot included below at which point it became choppy. I've had the same choppy lag/FPS after the instance on the screenshot up until the animals. The animal/light test at the end produces simillar results but only when I sprint around the place, but not while I'm walking. -
Tiberium RPG Benchmark Test
AZ-Stalker replied to a topic in Tiberium Chronicles RPG Project [Archived Project]
Startup: Started in windowed mode with a black screen. I couldn't see the menu or do anything. I hit ALT+ENTER and it went full screen, then I saw the menu for about a second and it automatically started a new game, probably because I pressed enter and didn't use the F1 options menu. No flickering or issues beside that wonky startup which was partly my fault. Entry Room: No issues, smooth movement, sprinting is nice, fast and fluent. Controls very responsive. 1: No problems, runs great. 2: My monitor could be acting up again but I see a very very slight flicker effect on stationary lights and centered on tib fields. 3: Didn't see the exit door at first, dark tile. Flickering is hardly noticable, but I'm almost certain it's my monitor/graphics card issue which I've had for a long time now. 4: Very nice lighting effects. 5: Damn dog blocked my way for about 60 seconds heh. The Nod girl scared the crap out of me because her attack was the only sound I heard throughout the game (high volume). In conclusion, no lag what so ever, everything ran smoothly and the Nod banners are awesome. Played with the font fix. Also, the last room could have had some indication that it was the last one, just a thought - I forgot there were only five and didn't keep count. -
Episode building: Season 5
AZ-Stalker replied to a topic in Command & Conquer Legos / Tiberium Legos
Just read this a few times over: Season 6 is the last episode of Season 6, unless he can plan Season 6. Do you have any idea how much those sets cost? That would be a huge investment for something like this little fan fiction we have going around here. So I highly doubt it. Over here, sets like that skyrocket in price to more than an average person makes in a whole month of hard work. -
Most favorite C&C unit in the C&C series
AZ-Stalker replied to PurpleGaga27's topic in Command & Conquer: General Discussion
This is a hard question for me since I haven't really though about picking an all time favorite (weird huh?). Lets give this a try: Nod Light Infantry - I'm not just pointing toward the actual in game unit, but the whole concept including visuals and atmosphere featured through the FMVs. I love that armor. Nod Attack Cycle - There's just something about that sleek looking vehicle that screams "Nod will prevail" if you ask me. I also love the sound of it launching it's missiles. GDI Wolverine Mk.I - I've always though of this little walker as an iconic GDI unit, greatly contributing to their atmosphere. GDI Titan Mk.I - This bad boy is a trademark of GDI's 2nd War days and I couldn't leave it unmentioned. I really like the mech designs. Well, I'm pretty connected to TS as you've already noticed. But when it comes down to it, the iconic Nod Trooper is what I'm putting the spotlight on. Those guys and their fantastic armor really made an impact on me. Weswood did a great job with Nod's troops! I mostly like TS themed units so that's what I'm going with on this one. -
You don't see developers making such mistakes on virtual US soil very often... strange. But an iconic building from Zagreb placed beside another one from southern Croatia, siriously?

GameReplays.org iWuBTV Ep1 - Top 5 Generals of All Time
AZ-Stalker replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
I've always hated competitive mupltiplayer in RTS games, more so in C&C because I grew up playing by an atmospheric style both alone and with friends. An example, I absolutely HATE it when a player's base looks like somebody just dumped buildings around the place. No C&C atmoshperic style in there... another good example is when a building is placed in the middle of the road when it could have been beside the road to better fit the look and feel of the game, but no - those 2 seconds mean life or death because it's all about winning. But that's just me. Multiplayer isn't all that great anyway, it's the story and atmosphere that counts in my book, the road you take throughout C&C lore. -
New C&C in Gaming Trend's Best of E3 2013
AZ-Stalker replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
Not that I'm trying to imply anything, but I LOVE the first Generals game. I tend to look past the stereotypes that were featured through it and the overly simplistic SP campaign because it's just fun to play. I remember spending a lot of my summer days playing SP skirmishes and just enjoying it and collecting those medals. I don't care if it wasn't on par with other "epic" titles (I hate that word). It was fun, simple and enjoyable for me and my friends and that's what matters for me at this point, looking back with nostalgia. On a side note, zocom7, the mighty Call of Duty you are refering to stopped being anything other than a money-making excuse for a game after the 4th one came out (the original MW). Everything about the newer ones is just pure crap, propaganda, extremely linear missions and fuel for spoiled little kids that have nothing to do other than be "pros" in Multiplayer matches while screaming through their headsets. If you really want to continue pushing with the "...if it was like CoD" argument, then please state exact information on why anything from that series should apply in comparison to C&C's "epicness" scale. Oh and just to address your last statement, EA didn't come up with an "epic" story for CoD, nor did the newer games have ANY new, refreshing or innovative gameplay features other than smaller tweaks to make it even more crappy if you ask me. Try throwing a knife across half a city and bouncing it off a car to kill someone instantly... Bottom line - you can't compare a C&C RTS as inferior to a lame FPS shooter. Even if you do, it's just not the same gaming category. I once read a good saying somewhere about your highly praised CoD games, it went something like: "Please don't blame developers for making more stale CoD games... blame people for buying them in the first place." There, something to think about. Aaaaand that's enough off-topic for today. -
Excercise late in the evening. Your body can't go into it's cooldown phase straight away after that so you won't be able to sleep afterwards, at least not right away in any case.

Machinima Command & Conquer E3 Preview
AZ-Stalker replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
It's stated in the interview that the F2P service model can allow them to "support" the game for a longer period of time. So what happens if they go bankrupt or stop supporting it for some reason in the future? If they don't boundle it up and set it as a standalone install (with LAN connectivity like most boxed games) at one point, we will lose the ability to play the game for ever if something happens to or within EA that shuts down C&C in the (far?) future. Just putting it out there, in case anyone hasn't though about this. All previous C&C games can be played as standalone installs, while this service model (with all it's "pros") forces us to completely depend on EA's survival (along with a constant internet connection). No EA (or who ever keeps it running) means no game. Just to note for comparison, many older games that have dead/inactive/bankrupt/closed studios behind them are still very playable because they are independent of online servers and constant updates, not to mention modding freedom and potential for keeping them alive through the ideas and dedication of true fans - not just the initial developers or publishers. -
Typo noted.

All of this could have been avoided if the new C&C service was given a proper name/title by the developers or publishers without any conflict regarding the first game (Tiberian Dawn). The same stupid situation has me facepalming regarding the new Star Wars: Battlefront (3!) - which again, has the same name as the first one, so I'm a little upset since its a HUGE problem to add a number at the end of the title. The easy way out would have been, ofcourse, to just name a game accordingly to start with, then we wouldn't even be having this C&C "problem". I'll set my own personal negative feelings aside for now. They're creeping in into my opinions lately and I feel as though C&C has been degraded and isn't getting the required attention (regarding details) it should. I grew up with those games so it's only natural that I feel strongly about stuff that appears as a fail in my eyes. So whatever we call the new service is fine as long as it's not C&C F2P. The question that keeps popping in and out of my head is what happens when somebody asks you what game you're playing and you reply with "the new C&C game" or "C&C free to play". That sounds terrible and the problem lies with the reboot not having a definitive name, it's just riding on old glory and trying to appeal to a newer generation of gamers which most likely haven't even played classics such as TibDawn or TibSun (not strictly a fact, though). How do we say to someone that we are playing the Generals segment in the new C&C live service in a simple yet effective way and what happens if another universe gets rebooted at that... so if a friend asks me what am I playing I should respond with: "oh I'm playing the new Command and Conquer game, more specifically the Generals setting". That's just too much. And if a friend asks me a follow up question, something like "so what is the game called, I want to try it out" and I respond with "Command & Conquer" and get a strange look since that's just a generic series title and not a specific game name, well, all I can say to stuff like that is: why make it simple when it can be confusing? (EA's new slogan/motto, obviously)
-
Agreed, even though I would like to refer to it as C&C 2013, the thing is that it's now an online service aiming to reboot segments of the C&C brand (universes, starting with Generals). I went with C&C Online since it gives a very accurate outlook on the situation and maintains the "new" C&C service as one that holds all universes under it's name. News posting under a much larger name such as C&C Online would be fairly easy and adaptable to any situation should another C&C universe get it's reboot among other things. On a side note, I would just like the F2P moved away from C&C's name so it doesn't look as though CNCNZ's news is primarily focused on advertising the payment aspect of the game/service. That being said, I'm very pleased with what this poll is trying to do.

Non-Middle Eastern GLA Generals Explained
AZ-Stalker replied to Plok's topic in Command & Conquer News
Including the APA so the eastern block isn't stereotype'd and modifing the GLA so it isn't middle-eastern... but ofcourse, they just had to place a big "good guy capitalists - we'll save the world" faction called the EU. Why not call it the European Coalition or something at least slightly more fictional? But noooo, the EU are the good guys, same crap as portraying the US as the world's only hope for salvation in almost every other game. Stereotypes and propaganda - almost avoided, but no. This makes me a little sick to be honest. -
Agreed, I'll stick with calling him Uncle Chopshop. Has a nicer ring to it.
-
I would just like to point out that those armour pieces (shoulder pads or whatever) cannot possibly "stay in place" as part of this guy's loadout while in motion or running. The large protective pads, most notably on his arms, would often get disslocated and would "dance around" if the the only connectors to Beast's clothing are those simplistic straps. As a frequent user of knee and elbow protective pads, unless the ones this General uses are additionally connected to his BDU by some other means which aren't shown in more detail in the provided picture, I think it's safe to say that Beast's clothing wouldn't hold up if it were real and would just make him less combat effective. Just putting it out there... A more direct hi-res link. Oh, and by the way, the Teargas information is either incomplete/cut off at the end, or a grammar oversight. Sloppy...

All I can say about the new forum design and color theme is that my eyes hurt!

The end of privacy as we never know it before
AZ-Stalker replied to PurpleGaga27's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Uncle Sam just wants to preserve the 'Murican dream : Heheheh, goverments tend to do stuff like that, nothing new - especially for the US (the country of both internal and external fear). So, in short - meh. If you even thought you had online/tech privacy at any moment, well... welcome the the real world. Note: No offense intended. -
Dr. Thrax Returns in the New Command & Conquer
AZ-Stalker replied to Plok's topic in Command & Conquer News
Thrax was my favorite antagonist during the US campaign in the original Generals, VERY good to see him again. As for the toxin debate - chemical rounds for tanks and such will probably be used to add additional damage to infantry and occupied buildings and what-not while maintaining anti-vehicle properties. Perhaps with some short comings, as he WAS an anti-infatry general after all. I'm just glad he's back. He may not be intibidating, but the fun about Thrax was all about his crazy toxin jokes and semi-madman attitude in my opinion. -
C&C - Free To Play Wins 1st E3 Award - New GLA Artwork
AZ-Stalker replied to Sonic's topic in Command & Conquer News
I agree with Nmenth on this one. I think we can also expect another hot/sexy/cute/girly female general for either the EU or APA side to "better acomodate" hormone-driven younger players, heh... On a much larger side note; could we please just stop calling the whole thing "C&C Free to Play" and drop the monetary/payment 3-word-indicators from the game's name? The more I see that F2P mark alongside what used to be a great gaming title, the more sick I feel after reading EVERY news post related to the new C&C game. It's like we're advertising on EA's behalf. If we were to use another name for the reboot such as "C&C 2013" (since someone was smart enough not to give it a full name) or anything else for that matter which didn't indicate marketing values among other things, it would by my standards brighten the whole place up and return at least some dignity to a once truly great and fun series. The F2P standing out and screaming from the main title is an insult to the Command & Conquer legacy. Very cheap. -
For me, there will always be only one true Kane. Any other actor other than Kucan and it wouldn't be the C&C I love. Call me a Westwood whiner or something, but hell I grew up with the guy telling me to kick GDI ass!
