  4. On Friday, W3D Hub posted a pretty intense update on what they've been doing behind the scenes lately. Apart from a new intro that goes with their logo inspired by Westwood's 1998-2003 orb logo and a run-down of what they've accomplished from their 2018 roadmap, they've announced that the W3D Hub launcher now supports the regular C&C Renegade with the option of installing the latest version of Scripts, an announcement for the W3D Kit that will accomodate many needs of Renegade modders, a new wiki for W3D engine development called the Tacitus, and last but definitely the most, the first public release of W3D tools for 3D Studio Max 2017 that is meant to support model formats from C&C Renegade, C&C Generals/Zero Hour and the Battle for Middle-earth titles. More details can be found in their official post.

  6. Updated: 23-01-2012 Recently (12 August 2009) I installed from TFD, Generals Zero hour for some old good fights after i saw in you tube the Generals Trailer 1 at E3 that made me wanna revisit that game. Now i am running Windows 7 x64 and after installation the program didn't run. so here is what you should do to make it run Make sure you have the latest Direct-X 9.0c installed, you can Google it or get it from Microsoft make sure you have windows 7 service pack 1 at least installed! make sure you have the LATEST Graphic Drivers installed for your VGA Card and that meets the game's requirements! make sure that both Generals and Zero hour its on its latest patch version! TFD should be updated! (must be a clean installation no other MODS etc!) into your "user" directory (named with your user account yeah you know there where you see the folder my pictures, my music etc) in there go to "My Documents" well there after trying to run the game you would see a Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data folder. open it. right click and create a new empty .TXT file and rename it options.ini (make sure you see the extension .txt and you don't end up having a stupid file named options.ini.txt!) if you dont know how to see the files extension in windows 7, Google it or get an Xbox to play now copy the following lines inside and Save it! **warning in the resolution section put your resolution********* ***also some LOD settings may not work with your VGA card! remove those lines if you cant run the game!**** AntiAliasing = 1 BuildingOcclusion = yes CampaignDifficulty = 0 DynamicLOD = yes ExtraAnimations = yes GameSpyIPAddress = 0.0.0.0 Gamma = 50 HeatEffects = yes IPAddress = 0.0.0.0 IdealStaticGameLOD = Low LanguageFilter = false MaxParticleCount = 5000 MusicVolume = 55 Resolution = 1366 768 Retaliation = yes SFX3DVolume = 79 SFXVolume = 71 ScrollFactor = 60 SendDelay = no ShowSoftWaterEdge = yes ShowTrees = yes StaticGameLOD = Custom TextureReduction = 0 UseAlternateMouse = yes UseCloudMap = yes UseDoubleClickAttackMove = no UseLightMap = yes UseShadowDecals = yes UseShadowVolumes = yes VoiceVolume = 70 then Right Click on your Generals / Zero Hour shortcut (if you don't have make one), in Widows 7 most games make there shortcuts into the "GAMES" menu in Start Menu and in the Compatibility Tab just select Windows XP SP3 and click "Run as administrator" option too (if you are not an admin) that's it go inside change your settings and restart the game. other alternative simpler solution: windows 7 x64 SP1 (service pack1 is crucial!) clean install of the game and patch to latest versions! change compatibility of the main .exe to Windows XP sp3 (so that the main menu shellmap works ok) run the game for 1st time and during this run go to setting and change everything you want! (besides resolution) then exit game and locate the options.ini i told you before in your Documents\Generals Zero Hour data\ folder change there only the resolution line to your screen's native. (ex Resolution = 1366 768) save and rerun the game. you are done! Have fun that's an order!
  7. I've recently picked up work on an old project of mine, a game mode for Zero Hour modeled after Battlefield's conquest, in which you drain your enemies 'tickets' by capturing objectives. Scripting the majority of the mode is done, it works basically as intended. Among other things, some more work needs to be done to balance the Toxin and Infantry faction, by replacing their specialized Toxin Rebel and Minigunner units with their vanilla counterparts (at least for the early game), and also by revealing a small circle around the objectives in the fog of war. For the unit switch: 'Chem_GLAInfantryRebel' becomes Buildable (No) Command button: 'Command_ConstructGLAInfantryRebel' is added to all objects of type 'Chem_GLABarracks' in slot number 1 (1-12). And... 'Infa_ChinaInfantryMiniGunner' becomes Buildable (No) Command button: 'Command_ConstructChinaInfantryRedguard' is added to all objects of type 'Infa_ChinaBarracks' in slot number 1 (1-12). The first part of each script works, as the button for those units are not present, but the more important second part doesn't seem to be doing the job. 8. Howdy y'all. I am having hard times getting the hang out of how missions are structured to work within the game environment, having a rather slow on and off schedule to practice things, I wonder where is this caption window that shows up during Tutorial, guiding you through the game. Like I wanna know how that part works, in another word I can't seem to find which WIndow file the game uses to display that little box. Now I've sift through what I could, most of the .wnd assets if not all, getting to think it's somewhere else. I know that part in modding already I'd be dumb enough to miss something. FYI, one WND is that I instantly thought of it may be the culprit, being InGamePopupMessage.wnd. And if changed, it just does not do anything besides skewing the OK button, the rest of the window remains unchanged even if you modify anything else. Like I said, I had checked a total of 78 wnd's, talking Generals and I am out of damn ideas.
  9. Alright, so this week I just found a photo of what is supposed to be Jarmen Kell as the actor. I'm not entirely sure what hes name is but this is just an update of the photo I found. This is what I found: If you find more updates, please let me know. Thanks .

  11. Is that a SAGE thing anymore dude? It's something I consider for interface redesign, still planning it out that I have desire return to Generals. Playing around with the Windows.big mostly. Did I try using Cords parameter at no effect. So weird, was it 2007 I had menu modded, like, completely with different background set then got bored by the game lol what a project wreck. Given I choose to stick that Exit button somewhere else on the screen, am I doing it wrong? TEXT = "GUI:Exit"; COORDS = "LEFT: VALUEGOESHERE"; Generals that I play again, Zero Hour is cool too but stick for a while until I am finished with the campaign. Missed my game XD
  12. Welcome to Tiberian Dawn Redux! I hope you join me for this Let's Play. We start with the GDI campaign, and here are the first two missions: Alternative links and . The you want to give the mod a shot, you can get it here.
  13. C&C:Online, the community-run multiplayer server for Command & Conquer games affected by the GameSpy shutdown, marked its third anniversary yesterday! This year alone, around 45,000 people have been playing on the servers, with the number still rising. To celebrate this anniversary, prized tournaments have been announced for the month of July, as well as a hint at a new and more convenient way to launch the games onto the service.
  14. Hello, I have this strange problem where I can run CnC generals/ Zero Hour in Windowed mode but when I run in full screen mode it automatically minimizes. I am operating on win 10 using the AMd r9 270x. I am playing on the tfd 1.03 rev4 patched versions of CnC generals and zero hour. Is there any way you guys could assist me? I had the same problem with CnC3 but I fixed it when I launched in Windowed mode.
  15. Over a month ago, the team at GVMERS, who had previously covered the fate of the cancelled FPS Tiberium, created a video on the entire C&C franchise. What you are looking at above is the corrected, definitive version - certain facts about things that happened behind the scenes in Westwood Studios, EA Pacific, EA Los Angeles and Victory Games have been proofread, and each game is now presented in higher detail, in order to better describe what made Command & Conquer what it is, in both its good and bad times. The video is now 10 minutes longer in total, so be sure to check it out!
  16. Back in February, GVMERS posted a video that looked at what happened to the cancelled Tiberium FPS. Today, they have new Command & Conquer video that dives into the entire franchise. The Command & Conquer franchise helped shape the identity of RTS games during the 1990's and would influence the designs of countless similar strategy titles in later years. Even though the franchise ended with a whimper instead of a bang, it managed to create an indelible impact on the history of videogames. Join the team from GVMERS as they take a look at the rise and fall of Command & Conquer.
  17. Right on time this week, its another edition of C&C Music Monday. And this week's pick is from the C&C Generals soundtrack. It's one of the Chinese themes, "Mother of All Weapons". Composed by Bill Brown. Don't forget to share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCMusicMonday and #MusicMonday.
  18. After having polished the intro a bit (and the rest of the map since the last post) I encountered this error when using certain camera angles. There will be a disgusting spread of darkness on half the screen just like in the pictures provided, with the next angle being completely fine not having any of that junk. Anyone know a workaround for this? It really sucks to have it in the middle of my intro cinematic. Also off-topic question, there occurs a mismatch shortly after the nuclear missile silo is destroyed. When it is destroyed, the particle cannon becomes active for the US. I'm not sure if the guy playing US used it which caused a mismatch, but if anyone script-nerdy could check those things out then I'd appreciate it. Also you will see a folder under DRONE which is disabled, it seems like it somehow causes mismatches sometimes since after disabling that folder there doesn't appear to be as many mismatches as before. Thanks beforehand. glitchy black effect. <-- The only part of the intro where it occurs. next shot, completely fine. Map attached below. Operation Radioactive Snow.rar
  19. Hello hello, if anyone is still remaining in this dying community. I've decided to return and change some things with my old 2v2 scripted map, by not only adding a few new things but also implementing AI. The first difficulty I've encountered is that despite having assigned AIs some prebuilt buildings, the buildings always appear to be given to Neutral instead. This issue does not appear with players, however, for when there are 4 players they all start with their assigned buildings. This is the same for units, they are all neutral as well. The second difficulty I encountered was when adding a new structure, a TechReinforcementPad that gives the science "Sneak attack" to the owner. However if you capture this structure as USA or China then you will not be able to use this unless you have a GLA command center, is there a workaround for this? There's also the AnthraxFacility the GLA gets to use in their base that should give both GLA players the Anthrax bomb science, but since you always start as China I can't really test if this is working or not. I'm also open if anyone has any critique to the map in case of balancing issues, textures, scripts etc. Thanks for the help! Map attached below. Operation Radioactive Snow dev test3.rar

  22. Welcome to this year's first instalment of Throwback Thursday! This week, we remember the GLA Angry Mob, which appeared in C&C: Generals and Zero Hour from 2003. It was notable for being the first squad unit in the Command & Conquer series. This mechanic saw wide use in EALA's subsequent Battle for Middle-earth series, as well as C&C 3: Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath, where the majority of infantry units were also represented by squads. Angry Mobs were just that - groups of furious, but poorly trained common folk who joined the ranks of the GLA. Even one mob was a bad omen for GLA's enemies on the field, as they proved quite effective against enemy units. Remember, you can click on the preview to see a larger and more detailed image. Don't forget to check out the Throwback Thursdays archives if you've missed a week. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We also encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #ThrowbackThursday, #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  23. In this week's Throwback Thursday, we look back at the American superweapon from C&C Generals - the Particle Cannon. At first, it looks like a discount Ion Cannon from the Tiberium universe, but unlike its GDI counterpart, it has the ability of moving the beam to any location of the owner's choosing as if it were a unit, potentially causing a lot of damage in a larger area. In Zero Hour, the American Superweapon General Alexis Alexander had the Advanced Particle Cannon, which was 50% cheaper, but took longer to recharge. As with other superweapons in Generals, multiple Particle Cannon Uplink buildings could be built at the same time.
  24. Released today is the latest C&C Tiberian Dawn Redux Mod promo video showing off how the Mod looks in 2016. A few sneak peeks at the new campaign missions can be seen if you know where to look. Eight additional campaign missions are slated to release soon with patch v1.43 with the campaign videos included. This video itself is a remake of the original Mod trailer that hit the Net way back in 2007. DOWNLOAD CURRENT RELEASE FACEBOOK PAGE
  25. In this week's edition of Throwback Thursday, we remember another iconic unit from the C&C games - the Overlord Tank and its variations from C&C Generals and Zero Hour. What is a C&C game without one version or another of the Mammoth? Apart from its two destructive barrels, the Overlord Tank could be outfitted with one of three extensions on its top: a battle bunker, a gattling cannon or a propaganda tower, as well as uranium shells and the Nuclear Tanks upgrade. General Ta Hun Kwai's Emperor Overlord variant, however, came with a pre-built propaganda tower, but could also be upgraded with a gattling cannon, though for some reason the Subliminal Messaging upgrade did not affect its propaganda tower in official versions of Zero Hour. Still, the Overlord is very much worthy of the Mammoth Tank line.
