Halo units? In my YR? It's more likely than you think.

Seriously. No Halo in YR. It's a bad, bad, bad idea. >_>

Wasn't there a C&C mod that got stopped by microsoft that had halo units in it?

it is almost funny how easy it really is to make that mod once you have the SHPs and Voxels

No one ever said modding RA2/YR was very difficult.

Then again, if it's so **** easy, let's see you produce something worthy of playing.

updated again: marines who have m-4 assault rifles, some soviet trooper who basically has a prisim cannon, let's see a allied boomer submarine, a better soviet aa boathas ifv missles,a commander for each army :omg: they all have long range bolt action rifles

You realize the flak cannon on the Sea Scorpion is infinitely better than one with missiles, right?

And please god no prism-ish weapons for the Soviets...

i always thought the flack cannon was dumb and sounded wiered, what weapon shoots a puff cloud?

i changed them to missiles whenever i modded, and ya it is good with the soviets having their elecro-stuff and allies having 'prism' cannons (when that actually makes no sense, because a prism is a 3-dimensional shape where the top and bottom match exactly; refracts light when made of glass)

but i really like adding a laser to the shock trooper

the unit i always loved making was an osprey with agis missiles that can shoot the ground (because the shoot from the front, then home in on the target) if this interest you, i will whip it up and give you the text/ instructions for it ;)

PS. i got kinda sick of taking hours of trial and error making a mod from raw text, and when the game crashes, and you never know why...

[and all i meant was it isnt a real challenge to figure it out, unlike C&C3 worldbuilder, which is very complex to figure out at first]

You can tell why it crashes in most instances... it's not that hard. And if not, find someone who can read the except.txt a crash generates.

A flak cannon does. Flak cannons were used in times past to shoot down aircraft, they had explosive shells that released shrapnel into the sky due to the fact that they didn't have homing missile technology yet. These airborne grenade-style shells left black smoke puffs in the sky.

'prism' cannons (when that actually makes no sense, because a prism is a 3-dimensional shape where the top and bottom match exactly; refracts light when made of glass)

A prism is 3-dimensional, but there are no requirements for what shape they are allowed to be. The prism tower projects light upward from the base into the array of turning prism crystals where it then does refract the light into a focused beam and toward the target.

That is pretty much how all programming works, you make one tiny typo and blamo! Then comes the hunt for that miniscule mistake...

Flak shoots shrapnel, not smoke clouds (the aa cannon hit the aircraft instantly, ground shot a ball at stuff)

but how does the light electrocute you?

and why does the technician pistol always make multiple piffs in the ground???

Westwood was lazy for simple bugs

You can see the black smoke puffs appearing in the sky in some old war clips of aircraft flying over enemy territory, I tried (without luck unfortunately) to find one on YouTube.

As for the ground attack in which the ball basically falls out of the end of the barrel, yes, that was lame. I guess they didn't want to make a turret animation that had to turn while targeting air units, and another turn for while aiming at the ground.

They're different weapons with different purposes. But remember, this is Red Alert, not reality.

but how does the light electrocute you?

It's focused like through a magnifying glass, and electro death is so much cooler than fire.

The animation is PIFFPIFF instead of PIFF.

They're not bugs in the slightest. Not entirely realistic but you're arguing about semantics. Besides, if you're _that_ hung up on it, change it. It would take 3 minutes to make all of those changes.

Exactly.

Game doesn't support multiple turrets on one unit. And don't confuse the IFV as having multiple turrets either. It changes turrets so it only ever has one at a time. However, you could easily change the animations displayed on the Flak Track/Trooper ground weapons to something else. Sheesh, picky picky.

1) true

2) I know what the animation is PIFFPIFF, but EA has been lazy about stupid things like it many times, ex. C&C3 has no splash animations

3) Laziness, or too cheap to pay for 5 more minutes to tweak

4) turn the turret into a barrel, and it will face exactly at the unit being targeted, including ground
