New Official C&C Site & Forums Launching Next Week

Recommended Posts

Community manager APOC, has announced in a post on the Official C&C Forums that the brand new CommandandConquer.com will launch next week as well as some new Official Forums. Just in time for the release of Red Alert 3.

Hey everyone,

This may come as surprise to many of you, though to those of you who remember the community summit reports from back in June, you'll recall we mentioned we've been building a brand new franchise website for Command & Conquer.

This FRIDAY we will be posting a Q&A about the new website, how you will create your new profile, do your best to ensure your forum name, etc. We'll put the info out there and then answer your questions here on the forum so everyone knows what's up, and there are no big surprises (except for the new look!).

The new CommandandConquer.com is the beginning of a new direction for your Command & Conquer online web experience. It will encompass news, media, and community info for all three C&C universes: Red Alert, Tiberium, and Generals (this universe section will be primarily community news focused just to set your expectations for now). The website will also be home to your evolving profile and in-game stats for C&C 3/KW/RA3. So don't worry, you're not going to lose any of your profile stats.

And not to mention, we are also launching a brand new set of forums! The forums will be exactly the same as the new Spore forums, of course themed for C&C. You'll have new layers of functionality and better forums overall. These forums have been received very well in the Spore community and I expect the same for C&C (since we know our current forums haven't exactly been the best). Here is a link to check out SPORE Forums so you know what to expect.

A lot of good things are coming this way for the C&C community, we hope you are excited. I am.

I'm looking forward to seeing a big centralised home for Command & Conquer on the internet. You can check the original thread right here.

Finally!!! i am very exited, (ok not like seen Vanessa in the new wallpaper :P ) but still very happy!!!

but what tha hell is wrong with the PHP forums? i mean why do they stuck on Java forums??? they gave us so grapy results in forums and main website interface in the past, why do they keep on using java?.... i prefer ASP.net or PHP.....

well who cares.... as long its Working!!! :D

the spore forums, i have to admim they run very goo and with no issues so far, but i hate those Giant stupid Image signatures, its pathetic!!!! they are killing the forums! i hope they dont allow so much big image signature, infact i prefer no images at all in signatures.

Looking at the official Spore forums I thought it was a phpBB based forum at first. On closer inspection its called JForum - http://www.jforum.net. The Spore theme is probably based on a port of the classic phpBB2 theme.

Personally I can't understand why EA don't cough up and get an IP.Board or VB license. But clicking around the Spore forums you can see they are faster and generally better. I might even interact more on the new official C&C forums when go live.

I'm very excited about the new forums, it's going to be much smoother that the old one. The new site will be the home site for every C&C game, which is good because it's more organized.

Any forum software is better than what they currently use.

What do they use now?

I agree on this one, I got tired with Gamespy no thanks to their unnecessary accidental double or triple posting behavior, or worse, cannot load up a page unless you use a super-fast connection (Normal home broadband cannot load at all, 56k is much worse). Even a simple Proboards forum or even this one is better than Gamespy's. How lame & how humiliating.

So far, I hope the new C&C forum will be much better and much smoother just like Proboards does, user-friendly, smooth load-up for any connections, just 1 username (Gamespy is numerous, expecting 1 account have 1234 posts & another is only 56), etc...

Shouldn't the new site be launched about now? I'm pretty sure it's "next week" now.
