Luk3us 63 Posted November 28, 2008 So, my fan "fell off my PC" yesterday. Yeah, it wasn't secured properly when I built it a few months back, but it was sitting there nicely. Anyway, it popped out yesterday, I've fixed the problem now. But I've installed Speedfan to see how hot my things are and wanted to compared. CPU - Idle - 15c-20c. Max - 30c Motherboard - Idle - 25-40c Max -40c HDD - 25-30c So my CPU heats up when I push it, but aside from that the rest just stay about the same all the time. The only thing I'm concerned about is my good old 8600GTS. Which idles at 45c! I've seen it get up to 55c one day! Though I don't get any artifacts or video problems so lol? So what do you guys get? My cooling is, just the stock CPU cooler, two intake fans, one on the front, one on the side, and an exhaust fan on the back, plus the PSU fan. Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted November 28, 2008 I wouldn't worry about those GPU Temps. My GTX 260 idles at about 45c-50c and can get up to about 75c in graphic intensive games on automatic fan speed(once got up to about 80c in GRID but dropped down to 70c within 10 seconds of tabbing out). With the Fan at 100% it usually sits around 50c under load. The latest Nvidia drivers seem to have accidentally disabled fan speed control which is a bit annoying, but i still dont have any troubles. As far as CPU temps go, the 4 cores average out at about 36c on automatic fan speed, with the system temp about 34c. (cpu and system temps are what my current temps are at semi idle as i haven't monitored those temps as much as my GPU. Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted January 13, 2009 Is there a free software to tell my CPU temperature? Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted January 13, 2009 I use Speed fan myself. It doesn't always work though, as there are sometimes compatibility issues, but give it a shot. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted January 14, 2009 I checked mine with SpeedFan and my GPU was running WAY too ****ing hot. It was 50C while I was idling so I got RivaTuner and sped up the fan. Dropped it down to a cooler range but still too hot for my tastes. I think I'll be getting a new card and aftermarket VGA cooler this weekend. Rest is fine though. Strange just my VGA is having that many issues. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted January 14, 2009 I've never trusted the readings given by programs like Speedfan to be all that accurate. But here's mine. That after the computer sitting in low power stand by for a couple of hours. Share this post Link to post
Srowell3 0 Posted January 14, 2009 My gfx card runs at about 40 degrees. But i normally overclock it when playing Half life 2 etc then it gets to like 60. Speedfan didnt work on mine as sony i think has propriatory mobos and cases. Not that the case really effects speed fan tho lol. My mate has a XPS and ramped the fans up on that. Not only kept itsself cool but we didnt need a fan in the room anymore (only downside was a huge jet engine sound deafening us!) Share this post Link to post
The_Cult 0 Posted January 15, 2009 green-mobo (next to mobo)-overall processor blue-GPU(xfx 9800 gtx+) black-HDD Everything on idle. Using everest. (Trivial .. I have another 12cm fan in the case so that may be the reason why is relatively low..) Share this post Link to post
