Give these guys a job. Right now. Put them with the developers of Counterstrike and make them millionares for a Half Life remake perhaps better than what Valve could accomplish.

pish don't put them there... once this mod is made it'll become an instant hit and wide-spread. nooo... what we need to do is put those guys on the Left 4 Dead team :3 those guys are doing a great job anyway but you can never have too many good people y'know? it'll just make things happen faster as well as better ideas.

 

i say L4D because what they are going to do (apparently) instead of releasing expansions or whatever is simply make new campaigns, weapons, enemies and so on in updates... heck, maybe even new characters so we get more choice or bringing the gameplay up a couple of players. who knows... but the more awesome people you get working on a project, the more that'll happen and the more good ideas that will take place...

 

but oh my gosh that mod looks amazing o_o i've been trying to watch that clip for like, a week but things keep springing up so i don't get around to it xD i finally got to watch and respond today :3

i played a little way into the first HL but the graphics were irritating... other things came up so i stopped pretty much. and HL2 never really drew me in. but HL2 graphics with HL1 plot? daaaayum @.@

Really? I was about a minute into the game and thought, they have to make a Resident Evil mod or something. Imagine being in the thick of a zombie outbreak with Chris, Leon and Carlos. That would be the ultimate game.

eeeeyaaaaah. one problem there... completely different creatures in every way. and i'm not just talking about the infected bosses. the infected "zombies" are 28 days later style, NOT romero style zombies... also there is RE5 coming out soon. why should we need mods? if you really wanted a mod for it one could probably be made for HL2, using the slow headcrab zombie AI but with a different graphic model and skin... and using the director as an engine for the game.

 

but then you have the problem of the fact it would be HL2 gameplay, NOT 3rd person top down view with crappy camera angles and a backpack which you can open and view. but i'm pretty sure the mod brainbread for HL1 (and i think there was a HL2 version released too...) they had a minibackpack similar idea... if you're gonna make a resi evil mod you have to go the whole way. i mean you could just remodel the current characters as RE characters...

 

but let's face it, it wouldn't be RE and it wouldn't make a darn bit of sense with characters who are either active in different periods or haven't met anytime soon... i guess in theory you could just crank down the horde's speed so they are slow... change all the boss-infected into various RE critters like lickers and tyrants and so on... but there are just too many factors to change. if you slowed the zombies down the game dynamics would completely change. if tony todd can pwn a dozen zombies in hand to hand combat with ease, how long do you think 20 zombies would last against four heavily armed survivors? o.o;

 

that's the reason why L4D is going to succeed and remain popular for a looooong time after it becomes outdated, whereas games with slow moving zombies will fall into time. you can't make a game which has slow, stupid enemies when you can have anything from a crowbar to an assault rifle... it's just too easy. even if you were alone and you got swarmed in every direction and you had no ammo... all you have to do is run in one direction whilst hitting out and you'll just get straight through the crowd :\

 

why would you even want resi evil though? XD i know it's good and all but it's not the final word on zombies... also in the later years the franchise has been getting kinda mutilated >_> like RE4 and the movies... haven't played umbrella chronicles but it sounded promising. let's hope RE5 is better o-o
