Java and UAC in Vista

Recommended Posts

Without turning off UAC how do I resolve the pop admin permission for the current version of Java.

Java's suggestion was to turn the whole thing off, isn't there a way to just allow programs on a case by case basis like a firewall?

If your a confident Windows user and your not going to break anything you can disable UAC. Just like Alphabear I got annoyed by it and killed it within a few hours of installing Vista.

The idea behind UAC is great but I think it would work better if each time to prompted you for permission you could tell it to remember the setting for a particular program or function.

The most ironic thing about UAC is that for years experts said Microsoft must make Windows safer and secure, they finally start implementing these security tools and safe guards, but everyone finds way to turn them off anyway.

I'm just glad you can turn them off, when i got my computer i installed a few things, got f***ing annoyed and killed UAC, just after installing RA3. wouldn't turn it on again if it meant my computer would be any safer

Unfortunately it's the 'family' computer - so it's better to leave it on...

I like the installation protection, but the java thing is just spiteful decision by M$.

I'm wondering if I just uninstall the latest version and just install a previous JAVA program if that will help?

I must have updated it recently because it's only been happening in the last 2-3 weeks.
