New Judge Dredd Movie

Recommended Posts

While I've not bought any new 2000AD comics since the 800's, I remain a fan and look forward to a new movie.

Hopefully that slick, dark, gritty British movie style will come through... like in their previous movies.

o_o oh my god oh my god oh my god o____o

judge dredd <3 my cousin collected (maybe still does) the comics since the early 90's o.o; did you know the earlyearlyEARLY series of 2000AD had Dan Dare in it? XD

let's hope this movie is Tharg -approved- but not Tharg directed. otherwise it would be too impossibly awesome for our minds to comprehend, causing anyone who watches it to have their heads explode and forcing the movie to be locked away for all eternity ;-;

but yah i'm curious as to what the plot will be and who the actors are gonna be too o_o

maybe judge death? that sounds like something that the company making it would enjoy doing... however i think stallone is just a -tad- too old for the role now... though he might be able to pull it off. heck, it could even be a remake (though filled with innaccuracies and endless haters of the movie, i liked the first one >.> guity pleasure! :3 i mean COME ON - his "brother", an ABC warrior AND a certain family of badlands cannibals?! epic...)

Judge Dredd was an average movie on a good day, but average just doesn't cut it for my favorite Lawman. I just hope, they try to focus on one story and don't try to include every DROKIN character in the universe!

Mean Machine deserved his own film for instance.

I liked that old Movie with Stallion. ^_^ But then I was a lot younger then, and my tastes weren't as refined as they are now.

That being said, I don't mind an action flick anyday of the week. Heck even the **** ones. :P hahahah

well i dunno about a whole -movie- based around just a story with him and dredd in...

sure, he's the second most famous 'dredd villain after death, but even so... i mean it's not like he constantly upgrades or gets new and different things...

let's face it, although he -could- be a 3D character, personality wise he's pretty 2D. what with being kinda simple and his whole routine of being the cyborg with a anger dial on the forehead...

i guess he could use guns... (considering they build into the arm or simple enough to be able to operate with the cyborg fingers...)

but it kind of limits his features. the best you could do would be to either swim back into his history or somehow create some kind of complex scenario, like him and dredd have to team up. they've pretty much covered the character in -every- angle in 2000AD as it is xD;

=SPOILER=

this would probably give you a good idea of his personality and the way he thinks, though THE PICTURE IS ONE BIG SPOILER IN HIS LIFESTORY!

=HEY LOOK IT'S A FREAKIN SPOILER= http://www.2000ad.org/thrillpower/meanmach.jpg

=END OF SPOILER!=

=O__O SPOILER!=

...also edit: luk3us if you are talking the previous dredd movie, it was STALLONE. he's not a friggin' horse xD also it was only made in 1995... until we pass 2010 i'm not considering anything in the 90's to be "old" >->

yup. and chances are some of us -may- survive to the next century (if we are REALLY lucky and medical technology improves enough...)

but y'know, even if nothing happens medical wise there's always the chance that one of us may become oldest person alive xD i would have to survive to about 114 - 115 or older to meet the new century... and that's possible in TODAY's world let alone the future ^^;

i mean the last people alive from WW1 are hitting that kind of age... and generally most of them were born in about 1898 or earlier and they are still ticking now. you have to admit, that generation really saw the most amazing things in humanities history (to date).

as we all know, the speed of technology multiplies as time advances... so that generation has managed to see from where modern technology was first taking effect, onto heights they could never have dreamed of as children o.o; we have gone from radios and field telephones with cables trailing behind to the rear lines, up to technology which can process more things (and much faster) then a human brain and is available to the public o.O;

those people have seen war in every form they could imagine, they have seen great acts of heroism, they have witnessed all of the major events in our modern history... the rise of equal rights, going from a place where black people were seperated and wives had to stay home and do what they were told,

and now in our world where the "most powerful nation" in the world has a black presidental-elect, and women are going out and getting higher paid jobs then males (though let's face it, we are still backwards in a lot of areas. some places are sexist, others are so "anti-sexist" they become sexist against MALES instead xD. such as the british metropolitan police who refused to hire white males and would only hire women or minorities...)

anyway. who knows what we may experience for those of us who survive as long as they have. we can't even begin to imagine what may happen. could be anything from global thermonuclear war and destroying the world and most of it's populous, to creating a "golden age" and advancing humanity into the stars. who knows... though my theory is we'll end up with a more darker orwellian "big brother" nation state like in "1984" or "v for vendetta"

Mina all the things you talked about our gimmicks.

You make this like a James Bond story with gadgets and stuff. But there's so much potential for STORY here... make the movie focus on the character not the universe.

I think a M/M movie could successfully be done if you think of the villan in Highlander 1.

So much personality... was wasted on a cheap cameo in JD1.

a mean machine movie -could- work. but it wouldn't be as good. mean machine's personality is basically quite simple. all of his story context is either blunt battles or emotional things.

i mean sure, it -could- work as a movie but that is not what i want in a judge dredd movie. they need to make the large scale stories... such as the judge death "city of death" series of stories with all the zombies an stuff!

basically we need a strong villain and it needs to be a large story from the comics, not a one-episode random adventure or something made up. seeing a historical epic which spanned several issues of 2000AD put on film word for word... that would be EXCELLENT!

heck i'd even go so far as to say putting the "dredd vs aliens: incubus" graphic novel crossover into a movie (though you can bet fans from both sides would cry in pain xD it was a good read but let's face it, if you blow up a standard warrior or drone, it's not gonna explode into a 10 metre crater of acid which will burn through countless floors o.o; )

You see I love Aasimov's three rules of robotics. I think Mean Machine falls into that category, he has simply dynamics you just put him in a situation and see how it developes naturally. He'll make a demand, someone will refuse, he'll get ornery and go up to 4!

Stomm... that would be so much fun.

i could have sworn the three rules applied to AI's, androids and generally cybernetic beings. mean machine -isn't- an android. he's just got a lot of mechanical parts, so he's a cyborg. i'm pretty sure he does have his own mind xD;

No silly.... :P

I know Mean Machine is not a android. I was trying to say, Asimov created several books worth of stories based around the interaction of the three laws in operation. And a good STORY could be crafted around Mean Machine's simple, but delicious, personality!
