I really want to get into Universe, but I've also heard less than favorable things about it.

Yeah, I want to like it because I liked the Stargate series, but Atlantis started floating off in its own pointless and uninteresting stories which caused me to lose a lot of interest and I think the same thing is going to happen with Universe, but probably faster. Like I mentioned, they are trading action for drama and that is a bad sign right there.

Haven't seen the show yet, but Stargate action was never all that great in the first place, it always comes off as being far to bloody easy.

 

I'm guessing that Universe must be pretty different from the stock and file that came before it. Because I don't think I could take drama in a Stargate series, seriously.

Yeah, the main aspect that attracted me to Stargate was not the combat scenes. SG-1 may as well be Triple H, with how many times they bury(when one makes someone look awful) enemies in the series.

I'm watching the sixth episode of Stargate Universe. The pace is a little slow, I'm absolutely fine with the way they shoot the sequences. It just reminded me of BSG feel to it, with a range of colorful emotional people stuck on an old ship. And I love the Destiny Stargate and the sound effects. Its the best sound effects and things among all the gates I've seen, yea it spins. XD

Yes I have to agree with you on this part. SGA is the best among the Stargate franchise. SGU is the least popular, unfortunately, the only thing that encourage me to watch it was due to the awesome Destiny Gate effects and the the character Eli Wallace.

my dear boy i believe you just forgot the stain on the stargate franchise Stargate Infinity but you are right on SGU i love the gate effect, what is the bet that when that gate goes off the still jump because that noise is bloody loud going through my speakers. and lets not write it off yet it might get better

I am disregarding SGI because it has absolutely nothing to do with the shows, with the exception of the gate itself.

the scary thing is, is it is set about 200 years after SGU, so for some dumb reason it is part of cannon, and was a waste of my time and bandwidth.
