C&C4 Box Art Suggestions

I think it was this one, that's all I remember.

But that one looks more like from a magazine page rather than a boxart.

I have that one. That is from the inside when you flip open the front, you can see the dotted line going down the middle from the hinge.

My copy is seriously dusty though, sitting in my basement for eight years...

So what is this box art?

(Found it with a 'Red Alert 2 box art' search)

It might be the regular or possibly your pre-911 edition.

Anyway, let's get back on topic. We really still need to persuade the dev team to use the Soldier's Head, AND by drawing it from scratch, NOT the copy & paste like they did with the RA3 Premier Edition!

Marketing people decide what goes on the box cover, not the dev team. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Indeed. Marketing team are seperated from the dev team, basically we have the dev team busy with the mechanics and stuff, and the marketing team doing the hype, box art and possibly trailers.

The EA marketing departement is easily one of the ****ing best in the industry. Some of their viral stuff is great, not so much with C&C but other games are great.

Pitty the rest of EA isn't as great. :(

Honestly, I didn't know who is the one in charge, I thought it was the dev team or was it their artists in the arts department. But anyway, the marketing team must be the ones. And honestly, I prefer them to still follow the Soldier's Head icon, but I got to ask them, did they really hate that Soldier's Head icon that's why they created the terrible X design for the C&C3 boxart?

But still, in many BCPT episodes, we see interviews with the dev team, but what about the marketing team? And through the old "Ask a Developer" thread, most questions we give & the answers received are dev team-related, WHAT ABOUT THE MARKETING SIDE? There's possibly some flaws between us, we focus or depend too much on the dev team, we must change our targets and eye on the marketing team instead! Persuade them! The Soldier's Head FTW!!

Second that. I love the way they hyped the product so much and they way they convince you to purchase 'em.

It is pretty convincing, Mal. But they're not doing a good job sometimes, they should spend their budget on something else such as the CGI room I talk about. The "Ackerman for President" videos are epic, but keep the ideas of the casts talking about horror shows & other craps INCLUDING Uprising's Valentine videos (Which I don't bother watching them) away from your heads, you're leaking & wasting money out from the budget! Put your remaining expenses on building your own CGI room, in that way, no more outsourcing, simple as that!

This is my absolute l33t MSpaint attempt no. 1.

As you can imagine, it'll be a shiny boxart with shiny bits around to give the blue"bling bling" effect. I highly recommend the use of a classic C&C layout, a random soldier with no emotion of sorts, and most importantly, a visor of sorts. Since the box art will be shiny it'll make use of the two themes (GDI and Nod), from 1 angle you'll see a GDI soldier head with visor and on the other angle you see a nod helmet soldier (TS upgraded helmet). The visor will not be blank and will display a faint battle explosion effect. The background of the soldier's head will feature some nice explosion of some battle scene.

What do you think?

I would like to see yours!

Yes, a reflection of a battle or something else awesome in the shades-part of the helmet is definitely a must ;)
