Many of the new features in Command & Conquer 4 are designed to make the game more accessible to less hardcore players.

"I think we are taking a little bit of a risk, but it's a really good risk," said Vessella. "It's what the genre needs, and I think that other companies like Relic and Massive have seen that as well. I hope it pays off, I really do. I hope that new players try the game, have fun with it and then try out some of the other RTS games out there."

"There are still so many high quality games in the RTS genre. I just think it's always been typecast as this hardcore genre where you need to have 250 APM [actions per minute] to get into."

OK, they want some new players/fans, but what about old players/fans?

I never considered myself as hardcore player and I always believed that all games in C&C franchise are accessible to less hardcore players. It was always easier to master any C&C game than most RTS games on the market, and what EALA trying to do with C&C4? Make an easy RTS more easier?

Please spare us. This whole discussion thing about the gameplay is just endless and painful. There's no chance they are going to change it anyway. So let's just have some confidence in EA and hope for the best.

I am hardcore, except I don't go troll here and there and say "You suck, EA!" and bla bla bla. I just have to respect of their decision and so on. After all, what can I do to fight against them? Hacking their company?! That's not gonna happen anyways.

 

Anyway, we'll see how it goes. If that game comes out and it won't go so well for the old players, then who knows they'll inform the new players to stop looking into the franchise and move on to other games which are made by smaller companies. For me, since I'll be in full swing with my jobs, I hope C&C4 will be my last to look into it. Forget Generals 2 or RA4, my job is on the line if I would to look more in gaming.

I think most of us know now I'm not saying it's a bad thing to be very criticizing, I'm a hardcore fan too you know. At least I can realize that complaining on fan sites will not make any difference.

I know the line between giving an opinion and complaining is very thin.

Not too sure if the direction of C&C4 heading to a less challenging and less hardcore is even good at all. Just look at the huge imports of "omg EA copied Twilight movie title in C&C4" newcomers.

Maybe it'll improve sales, but ultimately the whole community is gonna get worse.

Ahh, Mal, those Youtube noobs or some part of the community do read that Twilight book series. To me, it's not that very bright compare to Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. But still, Twilight was created in 2005, but Tiberian Twilight is 1999, those idiots just don't do their research of whose name is booked first.
