New updates from CommandCOM!

Recommended Posts

So I was talking with someone who went to CommandCOM (Won't mention who unless they reveal themselves, I don't want you guys to bombard him...)

So here's what he said (Yeah it's a guy):

- There will be Tiberium fauna AND Flora! (With perhaps some Intel entry about it?)

- The Nod Rocket tank is called the Mantis Tank, and it's not the Stealth Tank. Stealth Tank looks somewhat like the TS one, with 4 wheels or treads, and looks much better than the Mantis Tank.

- The environment and atmospherics are great, even the particle effects are amazing when in action. The game feels and plays different from a SAGE engine game. When you play it, you forget that it's a game on SAGE. Everything is extremely detailed and varied, unlike previous C&C games. (Yet the game itself still feels very C&C-ish)

- There is some kind of fire with a Visceroid on it that's being cooked.

- Sam Bass talked about an Intel Database of some sort being in the game. Everything left out in TW will be explained in this, and will return in the game. (Such as Forgotten, and Tiberian Fauna and Flora)

- GDI Support class had a tank (Prowler Tank), that is not extremely useful when used with Support class units, but VERY useful when used in accordance with Offense Class units.

- Gone are small set pieces with a camera filming from one corner. Sets are huge, like in movies. You have corridors, halls, entire rooms. No scene is only just set in part of a room.

- There will be visible ways to see what unit is supposed to be used against. (Sort of display what it counters?)

- Units last more this time around.

- They're still thinking about Mod Support. They wanna do it, and if the development of the game is going well, if they can get a few people to work on it on the side, while the game is being worked on and if, in fact, things are going faster than expected, there will surely be a Mod SDK at release. If not, it will likely come after the release. (If not at all; Worst case scenario)

- Engineer can capture some tech structures and repair vehicles (Like the C&C3 Corruptor), albeit kinda slowly. Takes usually more than one to heal units properly.

- 5 v 5 is the main game mode for C&C4. The Pop cap will definately go up. Not just 10 units per player, but more.

- When any unit is near the Crawler's repair radius, it will heal quite faster than usually. There is no limit to the amount of units in a Crawler's radius that can be repaired, they will all repair when they're in there, even if there's 20 of them. Units also heal when idle.

- When idle, the Talon "lands" and doesn't hover, but when selecting it, it starts hovering again. It's like unit idle animations from past C&Cs.

- The GDI Talon might be able to go over cliffs. (Not 100% sure)

- Classic Rock-paper-scissors gameplay has been changed dramatically. There are 4 armors: Light, Medium, Heavy and Reinforced (not sure on the first 3, but sure on the last one), and there are 4 types of weapons: Gun, Cannon, Beam, Rocket. Each is great against 1 type of armor, ok against another one, and weak against the other 2.

- There was a Truck that you could build originally and send over to a TCN node, and it would deploy onto it and collect resources via the Node. Now it just spawns when units are near the Node, and there are no more credits or any kind of income. The Truck becomes a buff to prevent the enemy from getting the Node too easily. They have to blow up the truck first. This is something they were testing in this specific build.

- Support class had 6 basic units, one was an engineer, one was the Prowler tank, and the other 4 were air units. This class is mainly air-based. (Even the Crawler flies, and it deploys into a land building) The Kodiak (Not the Global Stratospheric Transport, the other GDI ship, seen in the first concept art) is the Support Crawler. One of the four air units is the Orca.

- The game is in Pre-Alpha! Some stuff like upgrades wasn't even done, or properly textured. It's a "bare bones" alpha version of the game.

- Everything is subject to change. Quoting StarCraft 2's Dustin Browder: NOTHING IS FINAL! Things will likely change, especially based on fan feedback from CommandCOM.

- There are parties in MP like with BattleNet 2.0 and Xbox Live.

- No more GameSpy, it's EA's own service.

- No more Lobbies like in past C&C games, as it will not be necessary. You will have a list of custom games, and can join them. So it's just like 1 lobby. Think of the new StarCraft 2 BattleNet experience. (Check the BlizzCon presentation online, it should be on YouTube and other sites like GameSpot) That's what it'll be like with C&C4, too.

- Once you get the game in your hands, it's FUN, and you will definately enjoy it even if it's VERY different to C&C games of past. (This is coming from someone who's a hardcore C&C fan) It's new, and it's fun.

- Nod has the Beam Artillery again. (Dunno if he meant the Pulverizer or the Scorpion Tank, or another unit altogether)

I think, prowler tank will be similar to guardian allied tank (good ability for increase damage for all units and not best damage)

I'm looking forward to the flora and fauna stuff, and I'm so relieved by the Stealth tank info. Funny that nothing is mentioned about the sidebar and bottombar thing yet.

Some of that actually sounded good to me for a change. But it wouldn't be a bit of C&C4 news if there wasn't some of it that I don't like... Auto-healing units for example...

Mod support is the only thing that can redeem this game for me, aside from them redoing most of the parts I hate that is. :P

Ok, I'll comment on interesting ones.

- There will be Tiberium fauna AND Flora! (With perhaps some Intel entry about it?)

I better hope that is the Firestorm environment. Intel entry is ONLY excuses, and I probably don't like it.

- The Nod Rocket tank is called the Mantis Tank, and it's not the Stealth Tank. Stealth Tank looks somewhat like the TS one, with 4 wheels or treads, and looks much better than the Mantis Tank.

But of course, we forgive you. At least you did explain that rocket tank is not the stealth tank before our complaints gets too intense.

I sure hope so, bo. It better be promising, I also wish there's some gameplay videos we can see.

- Sam Bass talked about an Intel Database of some sort being in the game. Everything left out in TW will be explained in this, and will return in the game. (Such as Forgotten, and Tiberian Fauna and Flora)

I hope it'll clear things up and hopefully covers the gaps in Firestorm. And don't forget those deadly Tiberian creatures & the veinhole monster.

- The GDI Talon might be able to go over cliffs. (Not 100% sure)

Are you trying to beat Starcraft 2's game system like the Protoss Colossus tripod, oh wait, that has 4 legs.

- The game is in Pre-Alpha! Some stuff like upgrades wasn't even done, or properly textured. It's a "bare bones" alpha version of the game.

Sounds reasonable to me, hopefully the graphics better change too, especially it better fit Firestorm style.

- Once you get the game in your hands, it's FUN, and you will definately enjoy it even if it's VERY different to C&C games of past. (This is coming from someone who's a hardcore C&C fan) It's new, and it's fun.

I better hope it stays promised, gameplay maybe one thing, I also look into the videos & CGIs as well. You may had fail the boxart for my collection, but I'm expecting something promising in order my interest to be kept alive.
