Command & Conquer Gold v1.06b Revision 2 Released

As originally posted in our Community News forum. Nyerguds has released revision 2 of his Command & Conquer Gold v1.06b patch. The full change list can be seen below.

  • Fixed a crash that occurred on temperate/winter/snow maps when showing the tree type 'T13' on the minimap after saving the game
  • Assigning unit teams to numbers (with [CTRL]+[number]) now works for the number 0 too, like in the DOS version
  • The box that appears in network games when the game tries to (re)connect to players is now centered in high resolution
  • Fixed the fact that the "Start New Game" function crashed the game if either of the campaign starting missions had no starting videos configured in the mission file
  • The Funpark launcher program no longer triggers virus scanners (it was never actually a virus though)

This patch was mainly released because it felt wrong to leave a patch with a serious known error online... especially since the hotfix I mentioned wasn't widely known, and I hadn't had time to add it to the website.

 

This fixes all that, and now I feel less stressed for taking my time on 1.06c :P

Its great to see people like Nyerguds continually supporting the classic C&C games and keeping them alive.

well, 1.06c will be mainly towards "extra" features. It probably won't affect normal game at all, but it'll add a complete language addon reading system that will allow anyone to make a translation pack for the game. For the rest, it'll also add new mission options, like setting the colours of the houses in the mission files:

UnitRadarColor=161

This produces blue GDI with green buildings (+MCV +Harvester), and have units shown as pale blue on radar and buildings as dark purple. The radar colours are palette indexes; you need the colour palette to pick them. But there's also a RadarScheme= key that just copies the radar colours from an existing scheme.

Is there any maps with the RA snow theater? I want to play one. And how about adding the Dune 2000 desert theater? It looks a bit more post-apocalyptic and Tiberian Sun-ish than the original C&C desert theater. Include both! Would be cool.

Nice patch btw! One feature from RA that would be useful is if it's possible to make the numbers show when you use the "assign team" function, if you now what I mean.

Ehh, the Dune 2000 terrain is thoroughly incompatible with the C&C1 terrain in terms of the shapes of the tiles that the game uses. C&C also doesn't have any unbuildable sand like dune.

 

As for a Snow mission, the first GDI N64 mission I added to the game has been converted to Snow theater. Mainly because the map looked kinda bland, and because N64 C&C doesn't even have the C&C Winter theater, so there's no way to know what it was meant to be ;)
