What is Needed for Contra Addon?

Well on the official C&C site I was looking around the Generals Zerohour thread and I found the Contra section with a ton of stuff included.

 

Now me being me, I don't exactly know what is supposed to be done in order to apply this mod to my version of Generals on the first decade package. I looked for a while on the site where this is located and didn't find out how this big addon shoul be installed.

 

I mean really, they say it updates the graghics engine and the most resent one adds three new Generals, and over a hundered units.

 

So what is the settup and procedure of installation for theses "mods" do I just install them to a sertain file in ZH or what?

The Launcher it comes with is pretty much useless. Download the RAR from the site, unpack it somewhere and slap Contra007.big, Contra007-en.big and the two files with numeric names (the .016 and .256 files, which you should back up first) into the Zero Hour game directory. Then just launch the game. Easy stuff.

 

I do recommend cloning the ZH directory so you can run one with Contra and one without. That way you don't need to copy/rename files all the time.

Ok I think I could do that except for extracting the rar files.

 

I don't have a program for that, might I ask a good one from a "simply download it site".

 

I had some one tell me 7 zip is a good one for most formatts, but the site for it has all this support this cause before downloading crap that getts anoying.

I use RarZilla, it's free, no hassle to download, and it does its job.

7Zip is free and WinRAR works forever.

 

And there's this magical thing called "google." It allows you to do this thing called "search the Internet," which allows you to "find things you need."

Lol thanks but my PC is so old and bad that the program loacation for google got corrupted a long time ago.

 

So it makes it much harder trying to download or find anything in particular when your using netscape.

Netscape? What are you running? a pentium II DOS-box?

My PC is a old Dell from 2003.

 

Netscape was randomly downloaded back when my google was working. The bad thing is that it wont let me re-download google or anything cause it is to picky.

 

So thats my story, and what I'm stuck with.

Netscape wont dowload it period.

 

Its a sucky thing it does just for this. Cause when I get to the main page for dowloading it wont respond. You can click every where you wont but it wont budge.

 

It does the same thing when I try to up date my flash player, and that means I can't view any videos online. So if you ask me, I'll just say I want to buy a new PC in general.

You don't need to download google. Just go to the freaking website.
