Australia on trolling policies becomes law

Recommended Posts

This is something that Australia did something at getting this policy towards law (except for the R18+ game rating):

and

One trolling violation detected in Australian websites = possible 10 years in prison.

Maybe other countries may follow suit soon enough. What do you think?

I think this is a horrible law. It's basically saying that you can't insult in any way, shape, or form on the internet in Australia because it may be taken as "Bullying" if one person gets butthurt. Bullies have been around since the dawn of time, putting this ridiculous internet law won't fix any of that. No offense to that girl or her family, but she got herself caught up and it's her own damn fault for letting people get to her.

Violation of free speech maybe? This is an atrocious law because it legislates behavior, and you cannot do that! No law should ever legislate behavior, especially this type. This is one step towards Draconian speech codes. Seriously, think harder next time before deciding this is somehow "good."

Everyone gets bullied, even bullies get bullied.

That doesn't make bullying good, but anyone that kills themselves over it has taken the selfish "poor me" attitude to the extreme.

Regulating this is like saying everyone must smile when they pass someone else on the street because if you don't smile at someone, it may harm their self esteem.

This may sound callous but she seemed like a bit of a wimp to just keep taking their ****. Regardless sounds more like the Cafe owner dropped the ball on this one, harassment isn't something you just let slide.

As for the law itself, pah, talk about limiting free speech, sure bullies are an issue, so lets just go ahead and paint everyone with the same brush?

Lol, Zocom, did you modify your post to take a less agreeing standpoint to the article after reading our comments? :P

I agree.

After all, whatever you decide to do or not to on the internet is entirely up to yourself. You just need to learn the consequences.

I understand that people could get mad because of uploaded photos or videos, but that's an other story.

Lol. I did not know every time I make a new thread, that thread of the same title is mentioned in Google the next day. Why did I change it? Because now I thought it was not a good idea after all.
