Biscuit 0 Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) Hey all, I downloaded NYERGUDS ''Complete No-CD game installation pack (v1.06b r2, no videos, all music included)'' and then I installed ''Patch 1.06c revision 1'' followed by ''1.06c revision 1 hotfix #1 (October 3, 2010)'' All from his excellent website: http://nyerguds.arsaneus-design.com/cnc95upd/cc95p106/ I now have a beautiful C&C Gold sitting on my Windows 7 desktop but when I run it, the screen goes black and then I get the error message ''Unable to run primary video buffer - aborting.'' Is there anyway anyone can help me fix this? I want to play it so much! All the best- please don't flame me if I've missed something obvious or posted this in the wrong section - I'm new here but LOVE C&C so please try and help me out! Rich EDIT: I've spent two days trying to get everything working (even my First Decade DVD working on Windows 7 with the same damn error message - Think I'll give up and consign C&C to the vaults of my memory - such a shame.) Nyerguds 102 Posted April 28, 2011 Are you running on a laptop or monitor with an odd standard resolution which can't set 1024x768? There's an option mentioned in the readme ("HiresHeight" in conquer.ini) to support such monitors. If that doesn't help, you should try installing CnC-DDraw - it switches the graphics output to an entirely different graphics system (from DirectDraw to OpenGL), and allows the game to run in a window and save screenshots. Ferret 0 Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) Update your video drivers from the manufacturer of your video card (or your motherboard's website if you use integrated). If you could go to Start -> Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager and tell me if anything is under "Display adapters". And if there's any missing driver (yellow question mark) that says something like "Video Driver VGA" or "Video Controller VGA" or something on that line then you should post a reply below. Thanks. Check that, but if your videocard driver is marked with [Microsoft] in the name, this means it is a compacted driver and DO NOT have a bunch of things, like OpenGL support. If you are trying to use the CnC-DDraw it will always fails because it is a OpenGL port for DirectDraw. Then you have to Install the oficial driver in the machine, then download it into your manufactorer's page. Edited April 29, 2011 by pichorra Share this post Link to post
