The very reason why i dont is because some of the mix sessions are long, like 1 hour + the second one is 2 hours long!, but the thought is there. i feel if people have the physical file they can put it on what ever device they have and listen to it, when ever they fell like and not be constrained to a Internet capable device.

 

But am open to any ideas on developing this!

hay Jehal, what did you think of the mix's, my only problem of soundcloud is that it bugs out on my pc for some ungodly reason, an haveing no net cafes in CHCH at the moe it makes it hard to upload it to it. but have thought of it. my only problem is just the alloted time, i prefer free.

Free is always nice.

 

Been listening to the first one while programming a game I'm making. I like the music, though I'm more into non-vocal progressive trance.

Overall it works good, but if I had to give a little critique, it would be that you should practice beatmatching a bit more (mostly in the switchings between the first few tracks, else it's quite seamless).

ok i am working on a bout five mixs at the moe, i will ad some more non vocal trance for you, yeah my seeming is getting better, but their is the odd one that stuffs up the flow every so often, i am thinking in those cases is using a pure fade out!

 

but i am glad you liked!

Awesome, I will definitely follow up on your mixes Just remember to be "gentle" when you fade out, (You know this already) and try to make it so that you don't even notice when the switch arrives.

yeah i am working on my next one now, will work on my fading.

 

as for Live, yes i have, i do vinyl DJing, on the Drum & Bass side, i have a large collection of DnB vinyl, and i am quite good at that, but i am trying to go new age and do it via MP3, and i cant afford the proper stuff at the moe so i am using layering and fades to balance it all out, this is teaching me the digital side of mixing. lol

Nice to see an electro fan on this forums. For the past two years I've been getting really into electro (house, dnb, trance, italo disco). Your first mix I am not done with yet but I really liked it. I think your fading is pretty solid myself. I didn't notice anything drastic or weird. I'll have to listen to your second one later tonight or tomorrow.

 

What do you use to mix digitally? I've been considering trying my hand at remixing (and mixing) and see if maybe I could get enough people to like it, maybe invest in some equipment.

Mix 2 is amazing man, really good mix. 55:30 was my favorite track, no idea who does it though sadly :/

hay TBO just been using a few programs for mixing i use a program called Acoustica mp3 audio mixer to combined the audio together for the final mix after i have done doing some mixing of my own. i also use a program called. Mixcraft 5 to help me mix a few songs together, do a few mash ups. and a few other programs just to check fading etc.

also as a heads up give me to the 29th as i need a few more days to prepare my next mix, i have been working on it i have done a few mix's of a couple of tracks but i need to set it up right and i have some time off from the 27th so i can get the mix done and up!

foot note if any of you guys are using any programs that you think i should try out drop me a pm or a comment here and i will give them a shot see how well it works out. oh and if you have any track requests to go into the mix, i will try my best to get some in, at the moe i have had a request from one of the Namco Community directors for a song, (Ignore the fact that i put Ridge Racer at the start of every mix) and some of the guys from, The Will of The Ancients forums and the Dothackers forums have some requests in there as well and i am trying my best to work them in. but so far i have decided on one song to go in for the next one in celebration of a collection pack. i have chosen the song Save Me from the Ico OST to be mixed in. so any request ether PM me ore just post below.

Hay TSBO, in regards to your questions

 

how did you get your experience and how did you learn?

 

It all falls down to trail and error, when you start to work with music, and enjoy it as much as I do, you learn the rhythm of the songs, and where they should naturally join, sometimes it can get clunky like in my first mix, as I was having software issues.

 

Do you do this for fun or have you been paid to DJ anywhere?

 

my other experiences with DJ'ing is, I have an extensive Vinyl DnB collection, I have done some live stuff with this, it is easier to feel the music, and it is the original DJ way, but being digital now I am now starting to learn this all again. The gear cost a bundle so I am saving up for some new gear, but I am still keeping my Vinyl gear.

Do i get paid? I can if I want, but I just do it for the fun. It is all about the Fun!

Yes, that is all you have to do. You just need a good understanding of music as well. Listen to the music. Isolate yourself and listen. Headphones that can hit the high and low ranges help.

 

In regards to headphones, I recommend a pair of Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) P5 Headphones. It is the closet to natural Audio in headphone that have ever graced my ears.

TSBO I recommend you listen to Starlin Mix 003 as it will show you more of the flow of music, plus how breaking the flow can also work as well. To be honest this is my favorite mix yet!

I have a suggestion to make, Commander Starlin. Have you heard of the SoundClick website? You could put some of your created music there.

 

GC-Three (aka NewMessageN00b in Moddb) records and puts many music in this SoundClick page since he's the current music composer for the C&C Renovatio mod for C&C3 as well as other mods.

The layout of SoundCloud is much more friendlier than that SoundClick website but I donno what one gets more traffic. Might be worth checking out as well.
