Domino's has proposed a dome-shaped concrete pizzeria on the surface of the moon. The report comes from the Domino's Pizza Japanese division.

The entire project will cost $21.7 billion to put a pizza joint on the surface of Earth's satellite, $7.3 billion of that investment will be required to transport 70 tons of building material and pizza-making equipments to the moon via 15 rockets, said the company, as reported by The Telegraph.

"We started thinking about this project last year, although we have not yet determined when the restaurant might open," Tomohide Matsunaga, a spokesman for Domino's, told The Daily Telegraph.

Domino's competitor Pizza Hut delivered a pizza to astronauts orbiting the Earth in the International Space Station, in 2001. But taking the competition further, Dominos, working with a Japanese construction firm, Maeda Corp, has now come up with a plan to build a two-story dome and a basement level constructed of steel plating and a separate section for the staff to prepare pizzas. The staff will also live on the moon.

Though, Domino's has announced its plans to set up this pizza outlet on the moon, and have also come up with its Web site, it will be interesting to see if this plan turns into a reality.

According to The Telegraph, the company would pay one person about $32,400 to work for one hour delivering pizzas. How so ever unrealistic the project seems, it might come as a good news to the potential unemployed, as Domino's on the moon can suffice their need of daily bread and a peaceful stay on the moon.

I doubt if this was a joke but few humans ever landed on the moon. I hope the US can make it to the moon again this decade with something even better. It's better making a business on Mars than on the moon. :P

Idiotic. Use the money on people who needs them, instead of this ridiculously expensive marketing stunt. :P

Why on the moon? It would be far easier and more less expensive to just make a Dominos space station in orbit. :)

They just hold the dough in place and spin the whole ship if they do a station instead. I'm sure SOMEBODY would try it.
