Hints to Prevent Crash After You Mod Generals or Zero Hour

Recommended Posts

Here is a trick from Thierry to prevent you from making a mod unusable after a change:

If you are not sure wether a change you make might make it crash, then simply make the change and export it in the mod, but DON'T save it to your project.

If the game works then you can save it, if it crashes then simply exit TibEd without saving and start over.

Here is my hint:

I think the thing wich make the game crash after you mod Zero Hour or Generals is the saved game file. If you had a crash, move your saved game files into another location. That should make the mod to work.

I have another hint for you. Check the crash info.txt in your zero hour data directory (ussualy in my document). You can see detail information about the crash in that file.

That can also work good, but I never save anything if I'm not sure if its safe, I have been working and updating/changing a single tibed mod for a year now, and I'd hate for me to lose it.

I found interesting thing again. I've encountered this problem when I mod Zero Hour, somehow saved game file that I saved when I use my mod can't be loaded. It shows error message. Here is a hint to repair it, open the world builder, ussually it will show and error, you can see fetail information about the error. Wich line and wich code, then after you know the source of the problem, repair it.

True, a saved file under standard settings can be loaded with the mod, but not vice versa.
