Six Strategy Games to Watch in 2013

Recommended Posts

A few days ago, RTSGuru posted a new article detailing the Six Strategy Games to Watch in 2013, and, as expected, the new Command & Conquer is included.

Command & Conquer

It's controversial now, but that’s partly why it’s here on this list. EA originally announced Command & Conquer as a direct sequel to Generals before announcing that the first new core C&C game in quite some time would actually be a free to play, online affair. Initially, the company also announced that the campaign was gone before a firestorm of complaints led to backtracking. EA also announced that C&C would become a service, likely marking the end of Command & Conquer as we know it.

However, with the Frostbite 2 Engine behind it, the game looks very good. What remains to be seen, and why we’re watching, is how the game plays. Lots of games and even established series are going through a bit of evolution at this point in time. Multiple studios have announced a focus on free to play. We’ve seen it work for MOBAs, but will EA successfully pull this off? Attracting new players and old school C&C fans is an uphill challenge. And we’re curious.

Check out the full article to see what other strategy games made their list.

They are the creators of HOMEWORLD 1 and 2 and other ex-Relic studio pros.

They are making similar design style in new engine, probably a market standard engine "MOD oriented".

Hi, I won't create a new thread for this, it perfeclty fits here.

I was about to edit, but this thread was 4 pages away in 14 days, so a new post (bump).

Note below the interview a very interesting debate (confusing too) making analysis of many RTS games and trends, maybe more important than the interview itself.

Interview and Concept art here

If you find that debate interesting, I advise to create a new thread here at CNCNZ.com, anchoring more around CNC maybe.

Enjoy.

\edit

Forgot to mention that Wargame:EE got a lot of mentions.

Haven't heard about it until now, this game was released in the begining of 2012.
