PurpleGaga27 40 Posted February 25, 2014 One day too early, but only 1.6 gb download? I thought it's way bigger than that. But yea, I'll download it later due to crowded servers. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted February 26, 2014 One day too early, but only 1.6 gb download? I thought it's way bigger than that. Once installed its around 2.1 GB. In comparison, the original Renegade was just over 1 GB. The quality of a game is not measured by how many GBs it takes you know. Downloaded mine from the Aussie mirror. Pulled it down in the less than 30 minutes. Share this post Link to post
Guest Stevie_K Posted February 26, 2014 Congrats to the team! What an achievement! Who cares about file sizes these days... 20~ minutes less or more. Back in the day it took me an entire weekend to download World of Warcraft. Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) But even in a small size game that's in open beta, I already have issues running the game, especially on a Win7 32-bit and even WinXP 32-bit. On Win7, out of video memory error (that issue has been partially solved -- but I am not the only person to have this issue). On WinXP, the videos load too slow, leaving me to load in a window in 800 x 600 resolution and with lower graphic settings and that is all on a GeForce GT 220 video card, but it manage to load the menu and the in-game maps without lags. I haven't tried loading this game yet in my best rig, the one with a GeForce GTX 550 Ti. Edited February 27, 2014 by zocom7 Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted February 28, 2014 Well I played for a good solid 3 hours late last night, had a blast. It feels like like the original Renegade, but you spot the subtle changes they have introduced. For a first public beta its pretty damn good. But "beta" is the key word here. Bugs and crashes are to be expected. I experienced 2 occasions where the game simply froze, it was definitely the game, not the computer, because I was able to ALT/TAB back to the Windows 7 desktop. the RenX icon was on the taskbar, clicking on it would restore the game again, and I was able to continue playing. If you are having performance issues, like any game you need meet the system specs.... Minimum: Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista 2.0+ GHz processor 2 GB system RAM SM3-compatible video card 4 GB free hard drive space Recommended : Windows Vista 64 SP2 2.0+ GHz multi-core processor 4 GB system RAM NVIDIA 200 series or higher graphics card Plenty of HDD space Its good be playing a PC game again and giving my GeForce GTX 650 Ti a work out Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 291 Posted February 28, 2014 I only got one skirmish match in so far. They made some fairly good bots, still far from real human opponents, but a vast improvement over Renegade's. As for the gameplay... so familiar, and yet so different, it's a strange dichotomy. 1 Share this post Link to post
Traymen 6 Posted March 1, 2014 I am playing on Linux via Crossover application. Had some isues with install, but game looks great. My rig is: 3.0 Ghz Athlon 250 4 GB RAM GeForce 450 GS Game runs barely on medium. UT3 on same spec on Linux platform runs far way better - probably because of beta. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted March 2, 2014 I was able to download and get it going after some teething trouble - a simple config fix. I must say first of all - how wonderful it was to see a screen full of servers, and many of them full. I got two test games - unfortunately the first game was (lakeside) so it was already halfway lost and a brand new map, next was not much better. But man, what a rush. Great to see it action again. Hope to get some more game time in this week later. Share this post Link to post
