For Throwback Thursday this week we look back the debut of the Ion Cannon in the original Command & Conquer from 1995. Introduced during the First Tiberium War, the Ion Cannon circled the Earth on a geosynchronous orbit. It became the signature weapon of the Global Defense Initiative. Like it's more recent versions, the first generation Ion Cannon was capable of obliterating any location on the world with a precise, calculated strike of unforgiving destructive power. The Ion Cannon was pivotal in the destruction of Kane's Temple of Nod in Cairo.
