black screen when playing USA

Recommended Posts

Guest sub-zero

i have this freaking problem that my screen turns black always when i have played some time in an usa mission.

the situation is as followes:

i am on my base and all the suddon my screen turns black, but i still can see the health indicators of my unites and the toolbar, nothing else.

and when i move somewhere else on the map i get a normal screen.

but when i move back to my base it turns black again.

and this is only in missions where i play as usa.

is this some bug, or am i the only one with this problem.

please respond!

Hmmm the only things i can think of is that you have a corrupt file for the usa only and this is problem

Does it go black when you build a specific thing? Does it go black when you do a specific thing?

What video card do you have?

It could be an unsupported video card file too

It's an issue the Microwave tank has with ATi's smoothvision. turn it off, and it'll clear up.

From what I understand this issue will be fixed in Zero Hour 1.1 patch.

You don't need to put all the settings to minimum, you only need to disable the smooth-vision option in your ATI Catalyst drivers menu. At least I think thats where you find it. I don't have an ATI card so I'm not 100% sure.

Didn't realise it affected NVIDIA cards. You would probably have to disable the "Heat Effects" option in the "Advanced Display Options" screen.

I have a gforce 2mx card and everything was working fine until the other day and now all my terrain is black. I can still see my units and health status etc. I have tried turning everyting down to minimum and releasing as much memory as possible by closing other applications but this has not fixed the problem

I had that problem aswel i have a geforce fx 5950 i fixed it by downloading the 53.03 and updating Zerohour to the latest version if you have an nvida ard go here http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_53.03 or if you have an ATI car go here: http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html

hopefuly it should work or you will have to disable smooth vision with

ATI or heat effects with nVidia good luck!

Try installing the Detonator 45.23 drivers for your GeForce 2 card. You should get better performance from Generals with these older drivers.
