MR UNSEEN IN OTHER PC 0 Posted March 30, 2005 why is it that the abrams is not in the game and instead they have this rediculess crusader tank instead Share this post Link to post
Waraddict 0 Posted March 30, 2005 I know what you mean, its quite puzzling specially when you consider that the two US tanks are named Crusader and Paladin which are both infact artillery not tanks (Crusader actually was only in the concept stages), so it seems these guys actually bothered to look up military details but purposely messed it up for some strange reason. My guess is, maybe EA feared a possible copyright infringement with the US army, but then again, what about the B52s and commanches and humvees, etc etc. One things for sure, even in 20 years time there will NOT be a Crusader tank, the Abrams has been designated as the last US conventional Tank and will eventually be replaced with a light weight multi-barreled EM Cannon tank with a laser cannon and a vertical rocket launcher. sounds like I've been smoking something eh? well have a look here... http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/fcs.htm Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted March 31, 2005 Intersting. The next thing you know we'll have Hover MLRS and UAVs. Share this post Link to post
General Patton 0 Posted March 31, 2005 Intersting. The next thing you know we'll have Hover MLRS and UAVs. We already have UAVs in service; the Predator Drone is used extensively for reconnaisance and can even carry Hellfire anti-tank missiles in a combat role. And Prism Tanks may not be far off... http://www.defensetech.org/archives/001437.html Share this post Link to post
MR UNSEEN 0 Posted April 1, 2005 Waraddict is right, why did ea scrow up with this game Share this post Link to post

By ultra-light it is meant light enought to be put on a hover chasis, but strong enough to cary troops, have decent armor, and decent/modifiable weaponry Share this post Link to post
MR UNSEEN 0 Posted April 3, 2005 If you ask me i think its time that someone demmand that for the next zero hour patch they replace the crusader model and put an abrams and rename it crusader abrams Share this post Link to post
sonofabandit 0 Posted April 3, 2005 why is it that the abrams is not in the game and instead they have this rediculess crusader tank instead Originality and maybe some copyright issues. Some of these companies that make these weapons systems do have patents on their names. Just look at the legal section of any game that uses a Lockheed Martin aircraft-every single lockheed aircraft is named and credited. (Ace Combat 5 comes to mind). Personally, I'm glad they didn't put the Abrams in the game. Its the most overused, over copied tank everywhere. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted April 3, 2005 Personally, I'm glad they didn't put the Abrams in the game. Its the most overused, over copied tank everywhere. Yeah.... but it is one hell of a tank!! Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted April 4, 2005 The could have put an Abrams tank in and called it.......The Tankity Tank. Share this post Link to post
General Patton 0 Posted April 4, 2005 I suppose the reason why the Abrams isn't in Zero Hour is because Zero Hour takes place about 20 years in the future: the US military is planning to develop lighter, more easily transported armoured vehicles (the Crusader can be paradropped, something you could never do with a 70-ton Abrams). The Crusader (has some cosmetic similarities to the cancelled M8 Buford paradroppable tank) is a lightweight but powerful tank used for rapid deployemnt- the Paladin seems to be the Abrams-style heavy hitter. MR UNSEEN 0 Posted April 4, 2005 Okay let me get this strait, 1: EA might have used a crusader because of copy right problems, or 2: since it's 20 years from now and the abrams will be replaced by a lighter tank Share this post Link to post
Waraddict 0 Posted April 4, 2005 It's not 2 because in 20 years time the Abrams will still be around and possible the first few of the FMBT tank which will be NOTHING like the Crusader. Not only that but Crusader is the name of an artillery vehicle design that was recently scrapped. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted April 6, 2005 And in RA2 they could paradrop Rhinos. EA could use a bit of originality, so they didnt use the real stuff. Not only that, but they avoided the legal matters involved with using the real thing. Share this post Link to post
